KYB and SFC's in Canada

Howdy! I am just curious as to how many Canadian members here have bought SFC's and found them in Canada. I am in Alberta and wondering if there is somewhere in Canada I can order them from so I can save myself from the brutal exchange rate right now. As for the KYB's, I am just using the car as a summer cruiser and wondering if KYB's would be a good choice to replace the 26 yr old stock shocks and struts?

Re: KYB and SFC's in Canada

I find most guys that do sell that stuff, it just as expensive (if not more), than buying it online from the states. I'm in the same boat. I've thought about giving IROC Custom Auto a call in Edmonton, as I know they install them at their shop to see if they get deals or if it is all customer purchased stuff.
I feel the same way about the exchange rate right now. It was nice when our dollar was on par or close to.

You don't really need KYBs for a summer cruiser. Stock replacement would be fine. Use the money for something else.

Maybe try MOPAC in Edmonton and see how they price out to the US dealers like summit and Jegs.

I'm sure there are other performance shops in Calgary too

Re: KYB and SFC's in Canada

I figured KYB would be a decent medium. I don't want Monroe's but I'm not shelling out coin for Bilstein's. I just thought KYB's would be a good all around shock from everything I've read through searching.
As for the SFC's, I did try MOPAC in Calgary and they looked at me as if I were speaking in tongues. All they had listings for listing was 2010+. When I went in there before asking about a poly trans mount I was told they couldn't get any. They used to be very helpful but I found recently not so much. I phone DIX performance and they carry Competition Engineering SFC's for $385 my cost BUT I read that you need to modify the floor or exhaust to install them.
So I might do the SFC's on eBay or an American supplier.

Re: KYB and SFC's in Canada

I was in the same spot a month ago. I ordered KyB from Napa believe it or not and went with Monroe mounts only because they are lifetime warranty. In terms of sfc I ordered mine from Lon at TDS. My local performance shop quoted me 400 bucks for some junk comp engineering sfcs so I bit the bullet and ordered lons.

Re: KYB and SFC's in Canada

So the TDS SFC's you ordered, they're the inner ones correct? If so, how do you find them for clearance? Do you scrape going over speed bumps and curbs? Seriously considering this route due to cost effectiveness but would like some more input. Just concerned as I have to pull up over a curb to get into the garage

A guy around here bought a set of SFCs from Lordco (don't remember the brand), then copied them and took them back.

Re: KYB and SFC's in Canada

Yes the ones I bought are the inner sfc ornin my opinion a proper sub frame connector. The connect both subframes in terms of clearance I cant answer that yet but did a fair bit of research and they shouldnt hang any lower than my cat.

Re: KYB and SFC's in Canada

I see. Still undecided on the SFC's that I'm going to get BUT I do have 4 KYB boxes sitting in my spare room. So that's something haha. I have a guy wanting to buy my IROC so I may save the parts and buy another third gen if mine does sell. It's so original that I feel bad doing anything to it.
