front control arm question

When removing the old control arm bushings I accidentally cut too far and got into the control arm a bit. My question is at what point is the control arm trashed and need to be replaced? Is there a way to fix it?

Thanks

Re: front control arm question

i'd junk them and get different ones.. you destroyed the tension on the interference fit that holds things in place, and i wouldn't want to weld on it there any potentially weaken it more.

Re: front control arm question

I agree wouldn't want to risk it. I mean may hold but if it fails losing a control arm at speed wouldn't be fun.

Re: front control arm question

They're SOOOOOOOOPER common; must fit some other chassis, like S trucks or something. Whatever it is, whenever I've wanted a pair, the junkyard already has a stack of pairs of em pulled and sitting on the shelf, and they're CHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP. So cheeeeep in fact, that it's better to buy a set and swap new BJs and bushings into em BEFORE tearing down the car, so the actual R&R takes less time and has no risk

I just don't want to go through the trouble of pressing in the bushings again, shops around me want $200 to do it. For the money I'm thinking I can just get the tubular control arms and be done with it.
