Re: Suspension help

Not sure the brand but its done all the time.
only parts worth buying are moog brand, most everything else is garbage and you will be replacing it again soon. Im being serious, there are tons of kits on the market, even some by supposidly respectable vendors and site sponcers, and the quality is horrible. Moog it the only way to go. Acdelco is usually fine and sometimes napa uses repackaged moog parts.

Second the moog only. Anything else is a gamble. Can often get moog at good prices at rockauto.com

Agreed. There are a couple parts suppliers that will repackage moog parts and leave the moog name on the part or the moog part number. I know for certain that at one time on some parts AutoZone repackaged the moog as theirs. Timken is the same way.

Pass on the stamped steel clamp version of the tie rod adjusting sleeve. Buy the piece that looks like a four inch long nut. Here is the Spohn version: http://www.spohn.net/shop/1982-1992-...Adjusters.html

The stamped steel can bend and be temperamental.

the stock replacement stamped steel sleeves are plenty strong: i've replaced a few bent tie rods from people hitting curbs and the sleeves were still perfectly straight.. put a little anti-seize on the threads and try to have the open slot down so water drains out when you are done, and they won't fight you in 5 years if you need to adjust them... the only benefit of the aftermarket pieces- other than making a part of the car that no one will ever see look like a race car- is that they usually have wrench flats on them to make adjustments easier, which is really only important on race cars and street cars that hit the road course once in a while.

You haven't personally seen a bent tie rod adjusting sleeve and you think then that means the product is useless unless you're a race car driver because only they are allowed to own a part that makes life easier or their car safer. Am I right or where am I wrong?

no, it means that money is better spent on other areas of the car.. my personal experience with these things is that their only benefit is making alignments only very slightly easier and your wallets slightly lighter. they rank right up there with chrome valve covers and fuzzy dice in the pantheon of things that make your car better in any measurable way.
