Help !! Ball Joint

Hi Guys, This will sound crazy to most of you,but I am just an amateur mechanic needing help please. I am trying to replace my shocks and bottom swivels, I went on Rockauto site and ordered part it listed a few ball joints, but when i received parts and took old part out they are different, drrrr yes my natural reaction is i got wrong part, See photo attached old part and new one has splines ? can you clever guys confirm I have ordered the wrong parts, I have a 1986 Camaro 305 z28 I may have to re order, thanks in advance

Clearly they are different but on rock autos i typed in my car and these parts came up and I assumed they would fit ?

Axle/Gears: Behind me somewhere
Re: Help !! Ball Joint

Looks fine to me.

The "splines" cut into the hole as they press in, helping to grab... the hole is often distorted and an exact replacement would no longer fit tight.

Re: Help !! Ball Joint

The part is correct. All aftermarket lower ball joints have those "splines".

That would make sense as the old ball
joint, only needed a couple of lite taps and it dropped out. Cheers
