Umi kmember and control arm, which spring
Umi kmember and control arm, which spring
Hello,
I need an advice.
I just installed a new umi kmember with umi control arms.
I wanted to re install my moog coil 5662 springs, but it is about to be impossible, they are too long, 13inches.. and i think will be pick up with this setup ? Shape of umi arms is different...
I wanted to order umi coils but they are out of stock...
It seems harder to install coils on umi control arms...
I just would like to find coils springs easy to install, and shorter... there are a few models available on summit, bmr ? Eibach ? Or else ?
I think someone has feedback !
Thanks
Marc

You need a spring compressor to install springs. The installed height should be the same as with the stock k member and arms
Re: Umi kmember and control arm, which spring
You will need a spring compressor.
I have the UMI K-member and A arms on my Firebird. I had a hard time getting one side to stay in the spring perch. I ended up bending some rod steel into the same shape as the spring and tack welded it into the perch. It stayed in the perch so I could bolt the A-arm up but would move around while driving causing a noise. I now have coil overs.
If I had it to do over I would have left the stock K-member and arms in it. My 2 pennies...
Eibach are 10 percent off at the moment

I just put eibachs in mine with umi k member and arms. Used an Evercraft (i believe. From Napa) compressor. Did the job. Hut a pain in the azz to do. I like the setup very much soo far. Much easier to work on
