Torque arm cross member

Hey guys. Been a while. So helping my kid with his car. Been doing a little bracket racing. Anyway, looking at gettin a tranny cross member with the torque arm mount in it. To get it off of the tranny. The trans is a th350, the torque arm is the stock one, and, if it matters, the rear is a 9 inch. I'm wondering what one is the best bang for the buck? And which one will work best in our situation? Yes he runs slicks and we plan on upping the power level in the future. Thanks for any advice.

There are tons of solutions, what's best depends on where you plan on going with the car, and the best deal depends on what you find/who's having a sale... My go to is the Jegster TA's. And depending on what 9" with what TA bracket you might have to do some modification to the floor pan (hammering) to get it to clear)

Well we have a 9 inch from quick performance that has the torque arm mount. We are using the stock torque arm, and we have been using the bolt on adapter bracket on the th350. But we wanna take the stress off the tranny. This car will be used for bracket racing and some street driving. So handing and curves aren't a big deal. 60 ft times ARE!

Re: Torque arm cross member

Check out the BlackHeart line from Hooker/Holley. They have specific crossmembers for various swaps including the TH350 (IIRC).
Now that said, most of their latest is LS swap based but in my case, with a Gen 1 SBC, I've used their crossmember for 4L60-4L70/4L80-4L85/TH400/2004R Transmissions. The difference between the engine/transmission mounting planes in an LS compared to a SBC (about 5/8") meant a small tab added to the transmount on the crossmember. A bolt-in deal.
I've also got data from Toddoky (search his user name here on Third Gen) regarding transmission dimensions so you can cypher what might work with minimal fabrication.
Hope that helps.

You can find them used. I happen to have one in the classifieds for sale.

I’m also using the Blackheart crossmember with a Gen 1/700R4 combo and was able to adapt it to work.

What modifications did it entail?
My 700 is a little odd in that it has the rear trans mount on the extension housing as opposed being cast into the case itself. This made it almost identical in length to a TH400 and it caused a lot of grief (and a season of no racing) before I sorted it out.

I use this but for a 700r4 with no complaints, TH350 option below

See posts 12 and 13 here. I used the 4L60E adapter and an adjustable transmission mount with the bottom half flipped 180 degrees.
