1LE front bushings
1LE front bushings
Are the 4th generation 1LE front lower control arm bushings the same size as the 3rd generation? I would like to use these on my '89 Firebird. Does anyone have the chevy part number for these? Thanks!!!
on the front ??? I HIGHLY doubt it ... 4thgen is probably metric ..3rd gen is SAE :\ ... I'll try to get you part # though ... I know everyone that sells them in the aftermarket has a different # for each .....

I'd appreciate that!!! I know the rear trailing arms and panhard bar bushings are the same. I'm just wondering if the harder durometer 1LE stuff is even offered. I honestly haven't looked yet, so some aftermarket part numbers would be appreciated. The 1LE was offered ona few gen 3 cars also, so maybe i'll get lucky there. Maybe we can get this stuff and give the numbers out for everyone else so they won't have to use the polyurethane stuff (which should NEVER be used). Thanks again!!!!!!!!!

In the rear the poly bushings don't let the suspension work. As the tires go up and down they also move left and right. This binds up the LCAs When one wheel goes up and the other stays still it twists the bushings. If they are made of poly all that happens is binding instead of smooth movement. In the front it is a different story. The A-arms move in one direction so there it's ok for solid bushings. I know many people use poly bushings and like them, but personally I don't. Plus squeeky sounds coming from my car would bug the crap out of me. I honestly believe that the high durometer of the 1LE bushings is the way to go. They are tighter than stock but allow the movement necessary for the suspension to work. All I need now is to find the numbers!!!! I'm going to the Chevy dealer tommorow. Wish me luck. I'll post them if I get them.

Well- Here's the deal!!! Front control arm bushings #14039483 and #14039484. These are listed as 1992 1LE front lower control arm bushings. One each per control arm. In the rear, the trailing arm bushing is # 10164152. These are listed as 1993 1LE rear trailing arm bushings. I believe the rear of the 4th generation is the same as the 3rd generation. When it comes to the panhard bar, they do not offer the bushings seperately. You can order a new panhard bar with the 1LE bushings installed . This number is #10262147. This is also a 1993 number. The list price for the control arm bushings is $18.32 and $14.52 respectively. The rear trailing arm bushings are $12.80 each, and the panhard rod with bushings installed is $56.63. The total for everything is $173.51. As I said before, I honestly believe this is the best way to properly re-bush a high performance street car. Comments? Opinions? Let me know!!!

I must say that I respectfully disagree.
I have poly everywhere on my '82 Z28. I have no squeaking what so ever. The poly was a dramatic improvment.

MOXMAN:
Front control arm bushings #14039483 and #14039484 are listed as 82-86 for all cars, not just the 1LE's per my 1986 paper parts book. Group 6.170.
82-86 rear control arm bushing for all cars is 10000068.

Re: 1LE front bushings
I've got the poly all around my car as well (everything bushing is poly), and I must say it's been GREAT!! No squeaking at all, everything is tight, ride is great, cornering great - everything is great. I have none of the problems you describe with poly bushings.
Re: 1LE front bushings
everything poly on my car squeaks, i hate it, heim joints are the only way to go in the rear, i can't wait to get new tubular front control arms with the heim joints, no more squeaking/ lack of steering response from the poly bushings
