i'm putting in posi rear to go with 350 this summer. i have an 83 sc with drum rear. are discs worth the trouble. 89+ rear disc are better, correct? how much trouble? what is required. yes i know this topic is kinda overposted but, i need this specific info. no i won't be getting four gen rear.

ok .. the 89 and up are better .. both in brakes and in
axles .. newer ones have 26? spline alxes to work
with the take off posi's ..which are cheaper ... if your
not getting a 89 and up .. the disk brakes and the rear
are probably a waste of time ... that's why I went 4th
gen rear .. under $500 complete and done !!!

 

Disc are better brakes,I don't know how
much or hard it is to swap over.If you can
do it,do it.Were did you get a forth gen rear
from that cheap.I want one for my 92 Z28.

 

do i just change out the rear if its an 89+. No adjustable proportioning valve. no stock just new brake lines?

Brake lines are different for 1983 (inverted flare vs bubble flare). But I will cover this later. For now get a 89+ posi disc rear!
