How heavy are Spohn's SFCs?

That's just something I was thinking about. I think I remember hearing that they are really heavy. Anyone have the Kenny Brown SFCs? Just trying to decide between the two. I'm also wondering why the suspension has to be loaded to install the connectors. I guess it would be a good idea to install them before the engine is taken out huh?

I think they're between 35-40 lbs (maybe Steve Spohn can give you the exact #age?)

You need the suspension loaded so that the SFCs are installed with the frame/body flexed/positioned as it will be 99% of the time after they're installed! Otherwise you could weld em in and then it would want to flex against the welds when the suspension was loaded.

I just ordered mine about a month back, haven't got them installed yet. I believe they were 35 or 36 lbs. But, thats with dual cats version. I must say they look pretty good though.

I haven't got them installed yet. But I'm guessing there probably not that visible. I'll be sure to let you know whenever they get installed. I got them in Red Hot might look stupid if they can be seen since my car is light blue oh well gonna look ***** cause I got a triple pod pillar on the way. Dang national back orders on autometer triple pods.

Well, I've run into a little dilema. It totally slipped my mind that taking the interior out, some of the engine, the radiator, and a/c stuff would lighten the car a bit. So I'll either have to wait until I get the new interior in the car along with the new engine or just add some stuff to weigh down the car. The way it's looking I'll probably just distribute some weight around the car as evenly as possible hopefully surpassing the original weight of the vehicle then I'll be able to weld in the SFCs. I still need to decide between Kenny Brown's $229 connectors or Spohn's $155. Naturally it seems like a no brainer huh?

You might not want to distribute the weight evenly - once you put your engine etc back in, all the weigt will be up front and the body/frame will want to be flexed differently than when you installed the SFCs. I'm certainly no expert at this, so take what I'm saying for what it's worth, but that seems to me like what would happen...

Well, when I say evenly, I'm not being entirely accurate. I've heard that the weight ratio on our cars is around 56/44. The engine I'm putting in will be lighter than a stock L98 having aluminum heads, intake, etc. (probably not the block but possibly), and probably tubular a arms and a different crossmember. I still have some questions to figure out so if I can't install them before the massive work begins I'll have to wait until the car is driveable again.
