Bent Throttle body rod??

Symptom(s): whoop when starting in 1st gear while disengaging the clutch, and 1500 RPM @ idle (bad throttle position sensor?), which sometimes it can be kicked down to 8-900, and this is not an "always" condition.

several years ago I did not have the tools, know-how, patience and / or time to "wrench"....so bear with me... The car has also been stored for 4 years and i just revived her.....tune up just completed.

anyway, I have this "whoop" when starting in first when releasing the cluth. Took the car to the dealer (LO3) several years, say 7 years ago to look at the problem, thought it might be the throw out bearing. Nope, they tell me it is a Bent Throttle body rod, and that will be $800 please.....I say "will it hurt the car to drive it as is ?".....they say "probably not" I say, "see ya".

Well, now I am cleaning her up, fixing her up and modding her up so i would like to fix this, thinking the part may no longer be $800.

Any thought as to what this Bent throttle body rod might entail to fix, is is obvious and simple? can this be replaced by simply changing the throttle body out?...Your thoughts?

Thanks!

I'd say change the throttle body out. The dealer may have meant that the throttle shaft was bent. This would be fairly easy to check by taking the tb apart, then use a straight edge to see if it is bent.
