Help on Air Fuel Ratio gauge wiring

I just bought the AutoMeter Electrical Air Fuel Ration gague and wanted to know where you connect the wire that goes into the ignition. Every other wire is no problem and I know where they go but the one wire says to ignition. There isan't any other detail besides that. Just apic that shows where each wire goes. Which one do i connect it to?

If I can remember correctly the ignition wire you're refering to means power (12v) when the ign. is on. There are only three wires on that setup.

1. ground
2. o2 senser
3. 12v

Just remember to install a fuse in the 12v line.

what size fuse do I need and what 12v source should I connect it to? Where is the closest place. Can I wire it into the 12v source from my stereo and use the same fuse? The wiring goes right by where it would be handy to do that.

My instructions specify a 5 amp fuse and affirmative on wiring into a circuit that is live only when ignition is switched on.

What would be the closest wire that is hot when the ignition is on to the left pillar? There are two wires that run down it, I think they are for the little lights on the rear view mirror. Can I tap into the hot and ground of those?

i don't know about you but i wired into the air bag fuse in the box....but then again i don't have an air bag to worry about blowing up....you could possibly wire into the positive wire running up th pillar...they go to the mirror lights and the dome light.

good luck, don't wire next to speaker wires for the signal...it leads to a lot of interfearance from the radio....(i learned the hard way.)

I thought about wiring into the dome lights but those will turn on without the ignition on. Can I just pick a wire that is hot when the ignition is on? There are like 4 million wires around the fuse block. Can I just pick one of those. There are to many to trace them to see ehwere they go.

all you can do is poke-n-find. Take a test light(a light in a poker with a ground wire) and find one that's cold with the key off and hot with the key on...good luck

fakezcar,

That is exactly what I am going to do. Hunt and peck with a tester. I was just seeing if anyone wired theirs different to avaoid tapping into undesired wires.

Sorry, I had a phone call interrupt my reply yesterday and I forgot.

Anyway,

Look above your left knee when in the drivers seat and you will find the fuse box. There are some hot connection points there and all you will have to do is crimp a female spade lug on the end of your wire. There will be some that are hot all the time and some that are marked ing. Use one of the one's that's marked ing. and it will only be on when the key is in run. Besure to use an inline fuse holder with the correct fuse size. You can get all of these parts at any parts store.

Thanks that helps out a lot. That is so much easier than digging around and just splicing into something.I already got the 5amp automotive fuse and inline fuse holder from radio shack. They are automotive ones too.
