What to do with PCV hookup after open element installation?

Yeah,I've just had it dangling there for the past six months... Should I replace it with some sort of a crankcase filter? What have you guys used or should I even worry about it?

the pcv valve is on the drivers side of the engine. installing a open element has nothing to do with the pcv valve... are u talkin about that rectangular shaped filter on the pass. side?

I think he's talking about the tube that goes from the pass side valve cover up into the air cleaner. Its a breather so just get a push in breather.

This tube on a stock setup connects to the rectangular filter he is talking about.

Hello Im in the process of buying too an open element air filter (have not decided wich one to get yet, considering the composite comp cams one) so I needed to know what to do about that breather, So I found two kinds one with PCV (Its also a breather) and one standard, What should I do replace the drivers side with a breather that include a PCV and the passanger one with a standard breather?

Thanks.

Any recomendation on the open element is greatly aprecited (I need to buy it from summit)

you can leave the drivers side alone. just get the part i mentioned above for the passenger side. if i were you i would get the cheapest flat base 14" air cleaner you can find. drive with the crappy paper filter until you need a new one then get a K&N

So I would only need the drivers side one if the PCV valve was damaged right?

Thanks for the tip, Can I Choose any 14x3 air cleaner assembly if its base is flat, right? (everything else is stock)

On a related note...

Anyone know where I can get the black rubber grommet for the psgr valve cover, where that push-in breather installs? My original one is a mess (split in half), but I'm still using it (with the new breather) b/c I couldn't find one that fits.

Just take the old grommet and breather down to a Pep Boys type place and look for what you need. If you just ask them for the stock replacement you may not get the right size.

i had the same problem...mine broke. I just have the stock type breather filter bent in half and stuck in there seems to work fine but looks stupid. Soon as I find a breather that fits I will buy it. I think I'll take the valve cover in there when I remove them to repaint them. You will notice a pretty good difference with an open element.

Check this out . It's a screw on Lawn Mower muffler
$5.... Any hardware store has 'em. Fits right in the factory grommet too. I made a replaceable filter out of a few pieces
of blue shop towel cut out to cover the top of the "Breather".
And attached it with some tie wraps around the breather.
When it gets dirty and needs to be replaced I just cut out two more pieces of "Blue Shop Towel" and tie wrap 'em on.

Way better than K&N.....
