K&N X-stream

Is any body running around with this? What size would you need to fit a TBI? Does anybody think it's worth it?

Don't they sell the 14x3 open air element package with the x-treme top? Thought I saw it there. Anyways, I don't know how much good it would do unless u had cowl induction but hey, lets find out.

So a 14X3 X-stream will fit our TBI's? Do we need one with a drop base or not? Does anybody have one on their car now?

Thanks
Dave

I have a 14x3 non-drop base on my car. Mine fits but I have a Ram Air hood so i have clearance. So I am not sure for stock hoods.

Class is in session...

Y'all best listen and listen good....

I was a true believer in K&N until I ran into the best and I've never looked back. And all I can say is if FORMULA 1 uses them, shoot, I'm using it too!

ITG (Induction Technology Group) airfilters blow away K&N. TBI's will benefit BIGTIME!!! Use a cadillac TBI cover and one of ITG"s cones and experience the best....endless smiles HOMETOWNS............

I have an 14X3 open element on my car and it just barely fits. My element is a NON-drop base, and to go with this you have to remove the spacer ring around the throttle body.

I dont know if the Extreme Lid is any taller. If it was, then I would say it probably would NOT fit under a stock hood.

Here is another choice. I am using the S&B Fliters #77-1403/D High Flow Air Filter. See the link below to my profile for a picture of it. As I recall I paid $85 at a Super Chevy show for it. I originally was set on buying the K&N X-treem Flow air filter lid. I had one on order for 3-months. I finally gave up and cancelled my order and got the S&B instead. It turns out that K&N had stopped production on their filter lids due to field failures of them. They redesigned the lids and are back on the market.

I did have to make a minor modification usning a Dremmel tool to the inside aluminum piece on the lid for it to sit flush on the threaded hold-down stem.

Unless you have a cowl hood that can get air to the top of the air cleaner it is a waste of money. It looks cool and I get compliments but that is about it.
