Help! Stuck at work (car flooding)
Hey, my car just suddenly stalled on the way out of work. I got it to run (by giving it full throttle) to clear the engine, but it's still flooding up. It's running real bad, backfiring, and blowing black smoke. I can see the injectors are spraying WAY TOO MUCH FUEL while it's idling, and i can hear that the idle air control valve is open (like on a cold start). No check engine lights
. Which sensor do you think would be the culprit?
I think I'm going to go with the MAP sensor. I tried unplugging it, but it did not help.
Any help would be apprishiated.

Check the o rings that seal the injectors into thier pods. If they are nicked, the fuel will bypass the injector and run straight through, as soon as you turn on the key.

OK, I don't know what I did but it is kind of running now. It still misses and sputters, but it's not flooding up or blowing black smoke, and it runs good at WOT. Now I'm really lost. My distributor has been acting up latly at high RPM, do you thing this has anything to do with it?

If you dont already have winaldl or some other program like it, get it its totally free and it will reveal alot. The first things id check ar the tps and the map sensor, as those are the ones that tell the ecm how much fuel to deliver at a specified rpm. Also check the fuel pressure. High pressure, for whatever reason, will cause the enjectors to spray toomuch fuel. Trouble with the dist. will cause you problems too. if the pickup coil or module is having trouble and deleviring a bad reference pulse, that would cause problems, also.

Well, it runs great now. I don't know what the problem was. I played with some sensor wires and all of a sudden it started up. I then cleaned the plugs (which I had checked this morning actually and were looking real good) because they were so fouled up. I think the problem was the coolent temperater sensor, because when I disconnected that and reconnected it, cleared up the problem. However, I had also played w/ the idle air control valve. Oh well, I'm home now.
Thanks for all the help.
