Help me pull times that dont suck on Friday.
Im going to Norwalk this friday assuming the weather holds out. Right now its preidcted to be between 50 and 34 degrees.
As you can see from my sig, my times suck ***. The 60' or ET are not there, but more importantly to me the MPH isnt there. I know this car should be trapping at 95+ mph, but the mph is now where near that. 92.81 is not where I want to be at all. Its down right embarassing, honestly.
So Im asking you guys for a little help. I dont know a lot but I can sure as hell follow directions.
Heres my best run break down from about a month ago:
rt: .597
60': 2.412
330: 6.645
1/8 et: 10.132
1/8 mph: 71.08
1000' et: 13.027
1/4 et: 15.500
1/4 mph: 92.81
I also attached my winaldl log of this run. It was made with about 22 psi of air in the rear tires, as I had tried 26 and still wasnt hooking. Granted this is without posi.
I was told my o2 readings are high, and I can see my tps is only open 94.4% and Ill try to get it to open all the way before I go.
I have no idea where my timing is, I got pissed off and just keep turning it until it started to ping. If I pull my fuel pressure down can I get away with more timing, or should I just leave it where it is?
Thanks for any help you can give. Sorry for the lenght of the post, but I just would like a decent time before the track closes for the winter.

First things first, get the timing right. Hopefully your timing marks are ok as a base and you have a better than average timing gun that can give you exact degree readings.
Just because it doesn't ping at idle, doesn't mean its not pinging during shifts.
What I do with my timing is I set it just a tad below the level I get pinging during shifts. At the moment, 6 degrees is good for me.
Good luck to you, as for traction try adjusting how you launch.
I find that I can't just mash my pedal anymore. (Doing that gave me a 2.7x 60 ft and a 16.x time) What I do is I let off the brake a ms before the 2nd light and mash when I feel it roll slightly.
Doing this I pulled...
2.207 60 ft
6.425 330 ft
9.897 1/8
70.75 MPH
12.917 1000 ft
15.457 1/4
90.54 MPH
A worse launch gave me a best time of 15.414 but at lower mph 89.48 mph.
On average I managed consistent 15.4xx times and 90-91 mph trap speeds.
I've tuned my FP based off my O2 readings at WOT in third gear. Basically I aimed for a FP with a matching 0.860 to 8.880 V in third and it works great for me.

You will need to use a hex editor on your bin. Change location $4E7 to $00, $4E8 to $66, $4E9 to $00 and $4EA to $67.
Now on the scanner the PROMId will be the timing. To convert it to degrees multiply the PROMId value by .352 and add in the inital (base) timing. So if the PROMId is displaying 114 the actual timing is 114 * .352 = 40 deg + the initial.
The initial is what the distributor/prom is set to (typically between 0 and 6 degrees). If you are not sure of intital/base see the paper on the GMECM site about a spark only '747 setup. It covers the '747 timing. Questions, just ask.
RBob.

chuck!, i have on word for you HOOK!!!!!!!
a 2.4xx 60ft will get you no where. don't worry about teh tune up too much. you need to take care of the power you already have. a 90mph trap speed is plenty to be well into teh 14's with a 2.0 60ft.

ET is all about the traction.
Like NJ speeder said, speed will just give you an idea of the power you're making, but if the power isn't transferred to the ground, its not doing you much.

Thanks for the responses thus far. Lord knows my traction problems. Even the 1-2 shift was sad the last time I went. Next year I will take care of traction, but bascailly when friday comes, Im going to drive home from Dayton to Amherst, switch cars (cavi beater is what ill drive home) and drive to Norwalk so I'll have no time to really work on it. Im going to take a timing gun with me. Norwalk should hook better than Dragway 42 did, but Im afraid with the low temps that I'll still be cutting 2.4xs. Last time I launched at about 1600 and mashed it, I guess this time I'll try rolling on the throttle from idle, and if that works out OK ill try to stall it up a little.
Instead of ET I should say Im looking for ways to get the MPH up...

Try a few more degrees of timing and if you run the winaldl on those passes look at the 02 voltages past 5k. It looks like your engine may be leaning out once you pass the 5k mark. Since the PE mode locks the BLM and INT at 128, 02 voltage is all ya got. But they were consistantly lean past 5k. So shifting right at the 5k mark may yield a better time and speed, unless you can quickly adjust the fuel pressure a couple of psi and run some WINALDL passes.
