Well what I can tell you is its located underneath on the passenger side. It should just unplug and plug in. I havnt really looked but thats where it is located for sure.

The computer is underneath the pass. side of the dash. You have to unplug the computer and take it out. Then open up the ECM and swap the chips.

OK I got it working but now I have no power when I go WOT at 80km/h. I do have a lot more low end torque but when i'm at 80 and i hit the gas, it moves about 10km every 3 or 4 seconds and sometimes it even sounds like the car has cut the fuel and then lets the fuel run again.
My idle is also at 1500 rpms now, b4 i got the chip I had my timing set to 6 degrees advanced and I asked the person who burnt the chip to have it set to 8. Am i now running 14 degrees advanced and is that to much? I was also only running 89 octane if that makes a difference?

id bet its probably detonating at WOT. That cut out you feel is probably the ecm retarding the timing. Reduce it to around 8-10 and see what you get out of it.

its sound like to me that you got your chip in backwards. the same thing happend to me when i got my chip. it would idle at 1500 and when my rpm's got up it would cut out and would not run right.

Either that or the chip is governed at 80mph. Try turning the chip around and see what happens. Id also lower the timing a tad bit. Try 6 degrees with the EST unplugged.

there should be a notch on the bus that the chip plugs into. Align the notch on the prom to the notch on the bus and it should be in correctly. I believe in the prom burning article in the tech articles section, the author says which way the chip goes in the ecm. Oh, watch the SES light when you first turn the key to be sure. It should blink once after the ecm self check to show the ecm to be in order. If it just stays on and doesnt blink when you turn the key to the on position, there is a problem with the prom and the ecm is in limp home mode.

dimented, are you talking with the car running, or with the key on? With the engine off and the key on, the SES should stay on. Try using winaldl to datalog it, then post the results. You shouldn't be able to put the chip in backwards, at least my Jet Chip could only go in one way. Good Luck

when the ignition is turned from the off position to the on position (engine not running), the SES light will normally come on, monentarily flick of, and then come back on again. IIRC, when there is a fault with the ecm, the SES light will not blink but remain on.

ok well the chip would cause the SES light to just stay on and not blink oce which I thought was odd. So I tried a Jet Stage 2 chip for a 91 Camaro 305tbi and it works GREAT! i cant believe the difference in the car with it. Its ok to use the chip with a 92 camaro 305tbi, even though it was made for a 91 right?
