rich/lean problem...
well my car is still running weird... i returned the fpr to the origional setting today and it seemed to run ok until i got to around 4000 rpms then it would stumble... and backfire like a shotgun!!! i think i may have blown up my new o2 sensor...??? it is flashing a code 13 now... but before it was running too rich and was running real bad... smelled like gas real bad!!! so i am confused... maybe i should increase the pressure a little more...??? also when i installed my headers i removed the air system... can anyone tell me what those metal things are on the passenger side head that look like exposed wire... one is bolted to the fire wall behind the map sensor. they where bolted on with the bolt that held the air system in place... there were 3 of these... also my car seemed to run better with the fpr at the stock level... it only backfired one time... b4 it was backfiring like crazy!!! does anyone have any suggestions?
The wires are grounds. Make sure they are hooked up.
As far as your backfire goes... Do you still have your cat on the car? Is the smog pump still there? How about the air tube that goes to the cat? Have you messed with your timing? Whats your timing set at? What PSI is your fuel pressure at?
The O2 sensor is not in the loop at 4000 rpm so its unlikly your problem.

What were you working on prior to your car starting have problems? Did you install headers then turn the fuel pressure up? It seems to me that you are assuming that it is a lean backfire at 4000 rpm, and it could be. But it could be alot of other things causing a backfire also. Tell us what all you done lately and maybe it will give us a clue. Are you reading the O2 voltage? WinALDL?

sorry i was wrong about the code it was 24 for the vss... oopsss!! but i did find that i am running rich!!! i installed headers and new plugs and wires and distributor cap/ rotary button...
car ran fine b4... oh i also put a cat back on with a straight pipe in between,...
i removed the smog pump about 3 months ago. as well as bumped up the pressure... about 2 months ago. ran fine until i put on the new stuff... i set the fpr back to the stock setting it seemed to run ok but i found it would still back fire a little... well the fuel pod is seeping fuel at the gasket... it is brand new... its the one that goes betwwen the top piece and the bottom it seems to leak real bad atr the front... my book doesn't say anything about using any type of sealant with the gaskets but they seemed to be kind of papery to use with fuel... well i hope this helps more... i tried tighteneing and loosening this thing to get it to stop and it won't...

You say your pod is seeping. If it is dribling into the bores that would be enough to make it run rich at idle. Make sure all your wires are pushed on all the way and check to see that all the plugs are firing. A friend of mine got a bad plug about a week ago when changing them out. Re-check your firing order again especialy 5 and 7. I got a fealing the backfiring is something electrical. Remember, the more cylinder presure (wich increases with throtle opening) the harder it is for the spark to jump the gap.

ok the seeping is an understatement...it is gushing out of the cracks... and i checked all the plugs yesterday and they were in the right place... i think it has something to do with the fuel seeping. because it seeps more at wot. plus now i stink like fuel... my dad said to try some permatec sealant to see if that helps it seal... i may have a crack somewhere in the pod too... it seeps a bunch. i had no problems b4 with the fp being increased... so it must have just started seeping.??? well thanks for the fo

Tear the pod back apart, find the leak and fix it. Just look real close at every and take your time. You didnt forget the little figure 8 gasket did you? Fix the leak then see if you still have a prob.
Good luck!

well i found the problem... the haynes book was right for once...
the little paper that came with the gasket kit sows the gaskets going on the fuel injectors(the little ones on the bottom...)
first then sliding the inj in place... well this pinches the inj betwwen the ring and little filter on the bottom... thus not alowing the injector to seat... the haynes book shows to put the lower o ring in first in the pod then put the injector in... now it works ...
huge diffrence the car runs great now with no problemos...!!!
