what size rearend do we have
im thinking about getting 3.42. but i need to know if mines a 10 bolt or what ? and the ring gear size 7-1/2 ? could someone help. thanks

yes you need a new carrier, also changing gears is not exactly a DIY project on the weekend, it takes some specialized equipment to set the pinion depth, and to press the bearings on.

im have a shop do it i just wanted to know what im gona need so i dont get ripped. and i was told v-6 3rd gens have 3.42 and that i can just take the carrier and gears and put them in my car and i wouldnt have to worry about pinon depth.is that true?

the pinion depth is usualy controlled by the housing not the gears, what you can do is, take the WHOLE v6 housing, instlall the posi, check your backlash and patter, and then bolt the whole housing in.
