Turbo City Hi Flow TBI

Hi,
Has anybody put a Turbo City Hi Flow TBI on there car. I have a 350 TBI engine that I tried the Holley 670cfm unit and I couldn't get it to run right. I even adapted the stock injector pod to fit the Holley and it ran terrible. Any ideas?
Sonny

You probably have wiring/hook-up problems with the 670. From the guys that have the Turbo City TBi the concensious is that is sux. One guy wanted to put one on his 350 TBI and the bottom of the unit was warped. He had to sand and sand to get it flat and use a couple of gaskets. Try a search and learn how to addapt the 670 the right way.

what injectors did the unit origionally come with? The old units got the bad mopar injectors while the newer ones got the delphi injectors. You also have to use the proper size (65pph+, not the stock 45 pph or whatever you got) injectors for your 350 and at the least, burn a prom with the right injector constants.

Yeah, more than likely it's not the holley unit itself that is causing your problems. I am guessing that you will have the same problems with the turbo city tbi. Like dimented said, it is probably a combination of your chip and the injector size. You best bet is to get a chip burned for your engine and injectors. for the time being, all you can really do is play around with the fuel pressure and timing.

What is wrong with Turbo City? Not trying to be a smart a--, I am really interested. I have thought about a high flow turbo city throttle body.

do a search on this.. i posted the about this about a few months ago.. have pics in there too.. anyone who says its crap.. and has never used it.. doesnt know what he's talking about..

i have it... installed it..and i noticed a lot better throttle response, and a little more power all through out. i have since bought their 55# matched injectors(which acutally turn out to be cheaper than buying replacements from AutoZone or Pep boys, because turbo city gives you a core charge back.. so you only pay 68$.. instead of 89$ for new stockers) injector spacer as well.. and i say its worth it..

i cant talk about the holley.. never used it..

on a side note.. they have VERY good Customer Service.. if that guy got a warped one.. its his lame fault for not taking it back..

i live about 5 miles away from T.C. ive been going there since i had my GMC Typhoon.. always good service.

oh and T.C. is just like installing a stocker.. no other things to worry about.. my sig has the rest of my mods.(sorry no "dyno" #'s)

honestly, I have never used a turbo city product. But I do commend them for being one of the few performance tbi distributors.
But my opinion is to just go with a holley 670 if you're looking for more flow. They are brand new castings with smaller injector pods and a very easy to adjust regulator and use delphi injectors, where as the turbo city ones are refurbished with the big old injector pod. The holley is an easy install, even though not a direct bolt on, but not anything hard to mess with. And they are relatively inexpensive. Just my 2 cents

Thanks guys for all of your input. Dimented, I have the older style pod with the black cap injectors. When I first installed the Holley it ran rich and pumped out black smoke. I then re- checked everything and readjusted the TPS for .65 volts. It still ran like crap but didn't smoke. I went to JEGS (which is three miles from my house) and they told me the fuel pressure was too high. Then I took my stock injectors and adapted them to fit the Holley (I ground off the two guide pins on the bottom is all). It still runs like crap. It idles all over the place but it isn't rich any more. I put the stock TBI back on with a 1' spacer and it runs strong. I think I'm not meant to have the Holley.

I have a Turbo City modified TB with adjustable regulator and flow matched injectors with spacers. They say it flows like the mighty Mississippi. I've had it for 7 years now with no problems. The only issue would be a sticking throttle. Anyone else have this problem before? I'll be posting another thread on this.

I have the turbo city throttle body. Mine was the one that was warped. Had a terrible vacuum leak until I sanded it flat. No troubles since, though.
