I have a 89 firebird with a 305 TBI it really smells like gas all around the back. I have no gas leeks and the car gets bad gas mileage. It only smells when I get out and the harder I知 in the gas the stronger it smells. If I知 running rich how can I fix it?

 

you need to get winaldl to find out for sure.

 

Try pulling the plugs and checking them out.

I have a code 43 which is a low ignition voltage. what causes this?

 

Ok I checked my plugs and they are fine. I changed my o2 and air temp sensor what else is there.

 

Are you still running rich, or did you fix the problem?

 

Gas tank filler neck leaks are common. With a flashlight look up from under the car where the filler neck meets the gas tank. Look for gas stains on the tank around that area.

Code 43 is the knock detection system malfunction. Do a search on the TBI board including my name in the search will reveal info on it and how to correct it.
