closed hood, car died

I just installed hooker 2055's and started it and turned it off a couple times. The third or fourth time i decided to test drive it. I shut the hood and the car died. Now it won't crank and there is no "service engine soon" light, what could it be?

No SES means no ECU power.. ECU power is direct from the battery (20A fuse in holder on passenger fender right next to the battery orange wire and red wire). I'm assuming this is on a vehicle with VATS.. there's your no-crank right there.

This fuse also protects the fuel pump, so even without VATS, it would crank, but still not start

The fuse is fine.

A bad ground on the engine, not tight enough or the junction block by the radiator possibly a loose wire there, a wire for the ecm goes to the J-block. check the connections at the fuse maybe there is a short there or maybe along that route.

pepsicola. ... similar situation for me. only it was while i was going 80mph. right after i drove from denver to omaha. then was headed to kansas city... all fusable links were toast and i was coasting with power nothing but radio and lights at 80 on a one lane construction zone at 1am in the morning in south west iowa.

thats why i wrote up part of my open el article in red. LOL

let us know. this is one you will have to solve by guess and check. not a common answerable question from the boards.

It turns out it was a ground I moved. I put it back and it runs great. Thanks for the suggestions.
