holley intake / TBI

why is the holley intake top plate locate the TB's offset to the front of the intake square bore. It seems the spray would be favored to some of the cylinders? I am looking at the photo. Does stock GM manifold do it the same? Am I missing something? am giving some consideration into using a dual TB 670 Holley with adapter plate on a single plane Weiand manifold. this would replace the current crossfire dual single TB's I have now.

Chuck: is that with a holley adapter plate? does that fit under stock F3 hood? my intake is weiand accellerator single plane shaved on top for clearance for my C4 vette hood. i am anticipating it would fit nicely. i pick up 2 inches as the plenum is not needed. is there a drop down air cleaner available or better yet is a cold air kit adaptable?

This is why I do not like most adaptor plates. They are offset for part throttle distribution. When you are only at half throttle or so the blades redirect the air to the rear cylinders, thus putting the bores farther up will help even it out. The downside is when you floor it the blades are facing straight down and the distribution is horrible. I like the edelbrock tbi for this. The bores are nice and thick which helps redirect the air downward at part throttle and at wot the bores are centered for the ultimate setup IMO. I still don't see any drawbacks to using it of our cars, which it was specifically designed for and I think does a damn good job at it. A similar dual plane carb intake will not perform any better. It has the same plenum volume as the rpm manifold, and the runners are 1.13" x 1.87" on the tbi manifold and 1.14" x 1.88". for carb performer manifold. Don't even try to tell me 0.01" will make a difference. Best part is, it's a direct replacement.
