Okay to extend some wires?
I was looking at the wiring under my hood today and it all looks pretty good...with the exception of the ignition. I had to "modify" my DuraCrap distributor to work with the GM ignition module and Accel ignition this afternoon. (Locked out mech advance and removed the vac advance canister.) It's strange how much that Ford distributor resembles a GM small-cap distributor with all that stuff removed.
Anyway, back to the original question. I want to elongate some wires and move them to the cab of my Jeep. The question is...how much wire splicing/elongation is too much? Will extending the wires from the wiring harness to the module screw up any resistances or the like? As it looks, I 'll have to elongate them by about 8 feet to get them where I want them and routed through existing firewall holes.
Thanks in advance (no pun intended)

Thanks guys. I know that this sounds like a typical newbie question, but I had to be sure. I screwed an engine up once by "redoing" a wire that I shouldn't have "redone". It was a resistance-calibrated wire to the ignition in a 1974 Jeep CJ5. The short story is that I rewired it without knowing it had a specific resistance. It ran great for about a month, then it died on the side of a road. I cranked on it a few times, the crankcase filled up with fuel vapors, I cranked on it a little more, and BLAMMO!!! Crankcase explosion...it cost me a new engine (AMC 304) and a lot of cussing.
