TBI performance question
I have a friend with a 87 camaro with a 91 305 TBI and a 700R4. He just wanted to know what kind of hp he's pushing with his set up. He's got all the Ultimate TBI Mods, an open element air cleaner with K&N, and LongTube Headers with turndowns. I really don't know what to tell him since I've never really dealt with TBI before. I would guess it would put him somewhere in the mid-high 15's? Thanks.

don't fret, it's just a cam removed from a 93-97 f-car. they sell for around $50. very common mod, and because it's a cam, it's very straight forward.

There are many LT1 cams to choose from. They came in f-bodies, vettes and B-bodies (caprice classics and Impalas). When people of those cars do a cam swap they have no need for the stock one and they sell it. The f-body and vette cams were the biggest and only changed slightly over the years. The 1994 and 1995 cams were the biggest. The b-body cams were a bit smaller with a little tigher LSA but still great to use in a mild 305/350 set-up. I am using one out of a 1996 Impala SS. You can use any of these cams in your truck if it is a roller set-up. I always get confused which truck motors cam with roller cams. If your truck does not have a roller cam than you cannot use this cam. Fear not because there are trillions of other choices to make.

I've got a 96 vortec moter out of a Suv. In trucks after 96 got roller cams but before 96 did'nt on like cars which I've be told have roller cam's
I realy like the vortec motor but could not get it to run and know
that I needed to burn a chip so I going for the 330-350 hp mark
and put a stock 350 backin for know that was bored 0.60 over and has a RV cam in it.
The vortec ran better and alot stonger on the top.
Can wait tell summer to do so more mods and back in it go's

If you want a brand new cam with specs similar to the LT1 cam, and you don't want to change valve springs Click here
It's the second one from the bottom.

I think he was talking about the second one from the bottom of the page. the specs are .410/.424 lift and 202/207 duration. That would be a pretty good cam to keep stock springs and not mess with chips too much. At least I would think...never done it yet but would really like to.
