Re: High mileage TBI's post up
My goal for my 90 camaro was 300k. I made it to 303,000. Took the engine and trans out cause I was bored with it. Still ran hard the last day, didn't smoke too bad either.

Re: High mileage TBI's post up
Old thread. Here I am a year and a half later. Still have 45-53psi cold start and 15psi hot idle. Oil pressure drops during full throttle acceleration, but not during a brake stand, not when the oil is still cold, and not when I drain a quart from the crank case. Still makes noise for the first few minutes after a cold start (light load). About 4000 miles to a quart of oil. Still haven't seen a single whisp of oil out the exhaust. And I keep driving and beating on it. I'll check back in another year and a half.

91 camaros RS, lo3 305 tbi 5 speed, 188k and counting, All Stock except clutch.
Re: High mileage TBI's post up
Just turned 500,00 miles on my '89 Camaro RS (TBI 305). The best part is it has the original engine that's never been rebuilt. No smoke at all and passes California smog every time. This car is still my daily driver to and from work (a 120-mile round trip). If you take care of them, half a million miles is no problem.

Re: High mileage TBI's post up
I read this post somewhere an has to take a pic of it cause it related to me extremely well ... I've had the car for 6 years and I had 180k when I bought it (one owner (60yr old lady )all original ) ...I started modding immediately headers, exhaust , ignition, 1.6rr, etc. then finally 4.10's suspension etc. and about 2.5-3 yrs ago I said when I blow it up ill rebuild it better or swap in a 327.... Meanwhile after beating the ever lovin **** out of it and revving past redline several times ... It never blew up ! And I got tired of waiting so I yanked the damn thing out .. And now I'm rebuilding it

Re: High mileage TBI's post up
152K on the 89 LO3. Original miles. Smokes pretty bad after a restart. Eats oil fairly quick. Develops piston slap when warm. However she still fires up and pulls me around on my off days. Beat it up a lot when my dad passed it down in HS. Ran ARCO 87 all the time. Terrible choice. Now I just baby it and stays mostly garaged

Re: High mileage TBI's post up
Mines a 89 RS with the 305 tbi, 318k miles and even with the few problems i,ve had with it the engine still starts up and runs good, kinda wondering if this is one of those "hard to kill" engines, i was getting worried about doing a rebuild soon but i see a lot of you posted that your engines are still original non rebuilt.

Re: High mileage TBI's post up
I've only owned my 91 t-top 305 for a few months. It had 183K on the clock when I bought it, well over 184k now. Runs strong, everything works, even a/c except 3rd brake light. Has some issues but trying to sort them out one at a time.

Re: High mileage TBI's post up
My 91 Caprice has made it 339,300 miles on an original L03 305 engine, never been unbuttoned. Second transmission, replaced at 140k and a soft overhaul at 260k. Timing chain on the engine just skipped a tooth recently though, so I cannot time it and it's looking like a good opportunity to do a crate 350.

88 IROC-Z 305 TBI with 215,298 miles, never rebuilt all stock. I do get a stall now and then after its warmed up, and I go to shift to drive or revers, but then I I start it again and it's fine.

My 89 TA only has 82 k on it. BUT my 91 k1500 5.7 tbi just turned 330k and still runs strong and uses no oil.
