DOnt u just love that sucking sound in the morning

Its no suprise to me when i bought this ti was quiet but go tthe open element on and its liek a whole new world. Take today for instance car just sat for 10.5 hours while i was at work and go out to start her goes to high idle and is just sounding liek its gonna suck the hood into it. What eactly makes them do it is it jsut teh air it is pulling in thats what i figure. My dads suburban is loud but not liek this and he's runnign a true ram air setup into his

yeah it's a lot different with the open element on there. now you can actually just hear the air sucking into it, the way i understand it is the snorkel design muffled the sound so you wouldn't hear what was going on, and as we all know restricted the hell out of airflow.

I LOVE that sound, especially at WOT. If you ever get a chance take your open element off and work the throttle from the engine bay (just twist the throttle switch thingy) and you'll see exactly why/where that sucking sound is coming from. On the stock setup you can still hear it sucking, well, at least you can tell your car sucks cuz' there's no air flow!

I like teh q-jet secondaries opening up sound under load but the high pitched wistle and the high idle when cold is what bothered me.

My open element doesn't have a high pitch idle sound, or idle any faster than stock.

<-- has high pitched cold idle... actually it's loud all the time.
The IAC is the major whistler in cold weather and then cracking the throttle bodies open slightly is another whistle but before it starts whisling you're entitled to a whoosh that sounds like "give me more air you damn light foot driver."

When its cold out or the cars been sitting its louder than hell. Today coming home from work the car gets up to its regular temp its liek 65-70 out cruising with the windows down and got on it next to a crustang. And u should have seen the heads turn. It was a little domestic ***** v6 with the body kit and all that crap and i think the sucking under the hood was louder than my pipes.

Anyone else notice how u can let off of it and her it give you a little hiss liek it doesnt wanna slow down.

Cold fast idle was by far the worst with my car. With the IAC hanging open it sounded like one of those lollypop wistles with about 200psi going through it. Absolutly ear piercing with the hood open.
