I would like to know what 350 motor combos are running solid 13.5s or so with no nitrous on a budget. I am on hunt to find out what cam/head/compression combo is doing it. It has to be a tbi setup though. Those honda's are starting to get a little bit closer to the back bumper and its time to roll back out with something a lil bit stronger.

Try to do a search on it, youll probably only be able to find a few guys running 13's with tbi though. Also check out the tbi board the guys there really know what there talking about. I know of one guy on there who is just running the gmpp 350 ho engine with tbi and he is breaking high 13's so look for a combo like that.

Since the originator is wanting to limit himself to TBI, moving to that forum.

With the right parts and tuning you can make a 305 TBI run 13's NA. It can be done but people usually never get that far. They either give up or throw a bunch of mix matched parts on the car and don't understand why it doesn't run. The key is chip tuning. Sure you can throw a 350 TBI in there and it will be fast, but it could also be slower if you do not tune it right and prep the rest of the car as well.

Vortec heads, single plane intake, 280 or so cam, headers, and good exhaust, custom tune, and you've got 13.5s. Could get 13.5s for sure if you throw a 3000stall and slicks. Any wayif you had the 350 bottom end, this build up would't be much more than $1000.

Im running a solid 13.28 on street tires spinning through first and most of second with only these mods:

91 GTA Trans Am WS-6 5.7L 350
SLP Mid-legnth headers
Custom Y-pipe w/ randomtech hi-flow cat
Custom 3'" cat-back with flowmaster muffler and a 3" cutout
160* t-stat
TB Airfoil
Custom cold air intake kit
Custom chip
Underdrive Pulleys
MSD coils

Stock intake manifold, stock cam, stock heads, stock internals.... all bolt-ons. The things that say "Custom" are the things that I made myself except for the chip. A buddy of mine custom tuned a chip for me.

I do have a 150 wet shot set up on the car but I havent sprayed it on the track yet because im affraid to do it with street tires. On the insterstate doing about 65mph when I hit the button it blazes the tires leaving a smoke trail behind until I let off. Im expecting to see 12.00's-11.90's at the track with the nitrous and a set of BFG Comp T/A Drag Radials.

I think he wants to know if it can be done with a 350 TBI. We all know practically any other 350 is more than capable of achieving this.

It sure would be nice if someone could make a sticky out of the F-notes article in the 1989 issue of Hot Rod. It might just answer a lot of questions concerning just how fast a 305 can be using a stock tb and 350 injectors and still pass emissions. 14.30 on street tires is high 13's on drag radials. And the best part is it could be done for a whole lot less money today than it cost Hot Rod in 89.

Get me a link and I could add it to the sticky or make a new one. That is if I get a bunch of good stuff to add to it.

Once I get it off my old pc I can e-mail it to someone who can host it on their personal web site-page (whatever). Then we could link to it that way, or something.

Well i will read over it. The magazines have a habbit of glorifying the ease of performance they get out of 305's. They always make it much easier than it really is. My only fear is that we give people the idea that it is a only a few bolt ons.

An LO5 short block, Compucam 2032 (I think that's the number), some aluminum heads with bigger valves, Edelbrock TBI intake, Cop Car injectors and a good chip, combined with a good gear out back and you will easily be in the mid 13's. That should give you around 350 HP and 415 lb/ft @ the flywheel, and if you have that running through 3.23 or taller gears, you should be there.

l98 short block ...30 over

not sure what cam yet, for now, figure stock l98 cam or lt1 cam
compression aournd 10:1
#65 injectors atleast
high fllow fuel pump
lots of tunning of course!!

i think that thats would get a tbi powered car into the 13's as long as the rest fo the car can handle it...

Mike- Do you have any other requirements, ie.. gas mileage, emissions etc.? Are you setup to program your ecm?
I am constrained by mileage and emissions, but still have a car running honest 13.8, emissions legal and getting 19/26mpg.
