High Idel

Me and my friend were putting the ultimate throttle body on my car we got it all on, started the car and it idled at about 1000 rpm I took it for a drive and it I pushed in the clutch it RPM went up to 2000 RPM. So we put the old throttle body back in and it still had high RPM. We have no idea what could be wrong. Please help!

Check that you have all the vacuum hoses hooked up to it and that you didn't crack any hoses moving them.

All the hoses are hooked up and I fell no cracks in them. The ultimate throttle body that we put in didn’t have the little doors that open up to let gas in. So we put those in from the old one and we had some problems with them. Could that be the problem?

Well if they are not in right then more air will go into the TBI unit and cause a high idle. Is there any big nicks on the inside bores of the modified unit?

No I don’t think there where but the old one is back in there and I know there’s no nicks in the old one but the plates where kind of burned threw with a welder but the washer covers it. When I look threw the bottom on the throttle body u can see some light coming from the other side.

We where taking off the plates and the screws broke off so he welded it on to the shaft and burned a hole in to it so he said screw this lets just get some screws and we got washers to cover up the holes in the plates. And I don’t think I was around when the things happened to the edges of the plates. Am I supposed to see light around the plates when it’s in the throttle body?

NO.... Wow it is time for a new TBI unit or throttle blades. You probably warped them by welding them. That is only thin aluminum. Sounds like you did more harm then good.

Now that I think about it we are really dumb for doing that to them. I think I only need the plates and the shaft. Where can I get the plates and shaft? And for how much?

Just buy a whole unit out of a junk yard. It will be much cheaper that way.

Right around there. I would go to your local yard. I am sure if you offered $20 they would not reject your offer. I got one off of ebay for 40 after shiping.
