Lack of power after heads/cam/header install solved!!!!

Well I finally got frustrated and took it to my mechanic. He said the problem was my rocker nuts would not stay tight. He tightened them down and took it out for a test drive. When he got back to the shop he took the covers off again to check them and ALL of them were loose again. So he got some new rocker nuts and tightened them and they stayed. He said the valves were just BARELY opening and that is why I was not getting much power. It also cured the tapping from the engine whick I thought was an exhaust leak.

Picked up the car a on Wednesday and it feels GREAT! Can't wait to get it to the track and do some more tuning to dial in the chip.

Thanks all for the help!!!!!

Hey great news. I connot wait to see your new times. Replacing those nuts are always agood thing. The nylon locks are really not supposed to be re-used.

Bruce,

Just let me know when. I'll try to get the night off. If it's after the 24th, then I golden. I'm changing my days off the Fri/Sat starting the 24th.

It really feels good. Even the new chip seems to be real good. I'll still work with Brian and still try to tweak it more.

Ya know I can't remember if the rockers came with new nuts or not. I'm sure we would have used them if they did.

Can't wait for the track.

It might not be till around then, if not it'd be like the weekend before. They said they want to go before May, so I'll have to ask them again. I might just suggest the 24th to them...
