Hey everyone

This is a complete n00b question however I was wondering. Do TBI based engines have a MAP or MAF sensor? If so where abouts is it located.

Thanks

the sensor is located on the cowl, just above the pass. side exaust manifold, it gets its vacume signal from a tube that connects to the back-side of the throttle body.

it is the only little black box, attached directly to the cowl. it is HARD to miss it.

Do you think a dirty MAP sensor could cause a car to run rich?

Hmm not sure how it would get dirty but a failed map sensor will cause lots of drivability problems. You could test it really easy by using a vacuum pump and a volmeter. You should get readings from 0-5 from atmospheric to about 20in of vacuum.

A dirty map will not affect the way your car runs. I bad one will because it will not give the proper readings to determin engine load.

What makes you think its the MAP right away thrax? If your car is running rich I would check some other stuff out first. Make sure you get a nice cone from the injectors that's just good to check anyways. I would change the O2 sensor before the map if its running rich.
