Well then can anybody tell me if the detent cable goes on the top or bottom barb. Also i have an 87 or 88 trans in an 89 car. the detent cable i got was for an 87 car. It was the one closest to the length of the old one. Will this work fine? the 89 was like 3 inches longer than the 87 detent that came off of my car. Thanks-Joe
are the 305 and 454 TB common on the connections/cables? mine 454 is ready to install and i purchased an edelbrock adjustable throttle cable bracket. it came off 94-95 truck. would i use a camaro cable or truck cable? i was told i will need to cut or splice my cruise or lokar can do made to order? all i need is throttle and CC. no kickdown(manual).

no its not easier if you dont know how to weld
or own a welder... its easier to cut out a peice of steel, grind it to shape, drill holes and drill out your 454's linkage connections and bolt on your adapter for your kickdown cable.
now, is it cleaner and better looking and more stock looking, yup. more skill and care put into it, yup.

for as many tbi's as ive seen btw, there are many different linkages... this was a truck 454. no kickdown. i just made an adapter so that all was the same as stock.
i dont think you should have to cut your kickdown... if anything you can adjust it at the mount i think. just make sure that when you do put it together... it measures same as stock. try marking the cable with a marker or white pen and see the full pull out and full relax. check it on your new one... all good?
