Cheap Walbro 190
Ok, I'm lining up all the parts I need now for my engine swap which will most likely start this thursday. I want to get a good Walbro 190 lph pump now. So, what are the best prices you guys have seen out there? I know a lot of people have used these or 255's so try to let me know where I can find it the cheapest. Thanks.

I did a quick search on yahoo to see what I could dig up price wise. Check out some of these links. I found some as cheap as $99 in a few minutes.

Well, I've heard quite a few people say the 255 works great and heard a couple say the regulator isn't returning enough fuel with the 255 and there are problems. My luck, I'd get problems. I figure with a TBI system I'm never going to max out either a 190 or 255 so I'll make it easier on the regulator and return line.
I just ordered the 190 today from APE. The engine's getting picked up tomorrow to pull off the main caps and check it out, make sure the engine is good to go then the swap begins!

For those that use the 255 lph pump; did you use the hose supplied with the pump, or did you use something else?
I remember people mentioning hoses bursting or swelling and was wondering if the 2 were related?

How's it going 454ss?
I did have a problem with the rubber lines intank between the pump and sending unit. Basically, the stock line split length-wise after the swap. Probably do to bottoming-out the regulator on the holley. Though the external rubber lines held up. Our fix to the problem was a new rubber hose with a braided sleeve, and it held up nicely. It is probably worth it to do the external lines coming from the sending unit as well though-even though IIRC, the feed line is all metal, it can't hurt to hit up the rubber hoses on the return, canaster, etc lines, given you'll have extra sleeve left over as the one intank only requires around 3".
That was with the walbro 255 high pressure unit.
Also, just for note, with that pump and the stock Holley regulator, my min fp was either 16 or 18psi, I can't quite remember. Max was 25psi. The stock pump and holley combo min fp was around 11psi at idle.

One other note, I bought mine from JD's Performance, and I don't think the pump was supplied with the rubber hose, thus why we reused the stock hose. IIRC, the package included the pump, screen, and the wire/connector to the stock connector external near the pump.

Reason I ask is I'm having a fuel related problem, and thought maybe the hose is swelling, yielding good fp readings, but maybe not enough volume.

Hmmm. I'm not too sure. I always thought pressure and volume, for the most part went hand and hand. I would think that if volume went down, pressure would drop. I could be completely wrong on that, but I'm going off of when I was using the stock pump in the early days of the 383. Basically, when the engine's fuel needs exceeded the volume flow of the pump, it was directly reflected in a major pressure drop.
Make sure you are monitoring your fp under load. When we swapped in the walbro 255 with the stock hose, fuel pressure was fine at idle and while reving up. However, as soon as I put it in first gear and started going, the pressure dropped like mad. It took taping the gauge to the windshield to monitor it, but it worked.
What kind of problems are you having?

I'm talking about a fueling issue that starts at idle.
It needs its own thread

I'm retracing my steps, working backward from the TB.
