Lowering Fuel ratio
Im trying to smog my 91RS, but i keep failing because my air/fuel ratio is extremely rich... im running 55pph injectors and a TBIchips.com chip. I have a new O2 sensor in it as well... because of the amount of fuel in the mixture, i fail on almost all the different tests... any way to lower the mixture aside from smaller injectors or a new chip?

its really got to be done in the chip. just how bad are the results? it would be helpfull if you could post up the results from the test, high HC's can be cause by many things, so it helps to see the other readings to go along with it.

Like Dewey said you are gonna have to change it in the chip. TBIchips.com can only take a stab at what type of chip you are gonna need. You need to eventually do it yourself to make the motor run at full efficiency. Datalog and burn, datalog and burn....repeat until your done. A wideband 02 will make things a lot easier as well.

NOx high either indicates, EGR not functioning, a lean condition, or too low or the engine is not at the proper operating temp. You need to look at all the numbers combined, high HQ and NOx or low HQ, high NOx etc. just knowing one number doesn't help much.
the guy that tested me was really cool and hooked it up to the sniffer w/o reporting to the gov't. i didnt get the results on paper because he couldnt print out the pre-test, but he said that my o2 was bad (could an extremely rich condition ruin that?) or my smog pump was bad so it wasnt routing the gases to the right places at certain temps. What reading indicates a rich condition? the smog guy said that if that one is high, almost all the rest of them are going to be high...
and about burning chips... i need to pass smog by sept 22nd... i dont have the time or the moneys to burn a new chip for that... i dont have any of the datalogging equipment or the chip burning stuff... TBIchips.com said that if i datalog for him, he could burn me the chip.. but i still dont have any of that stuff... i just need to get it to pass smog

if you in a pinch, lower FP, and run denatured alchol with your gas, and see where you are at. if you get low enough on HC's , but your NOx jump, try retarding the timing a few degree.

i would run something with 10% ethenol. It is supposed to run cleaner. Do you guys have ethenol blended fuel?
