87 305 tbi no fuel.

A friend of mines car stopped cranking the other day. He thought it was the fuel pump so he replaced it. It still didn't work so he called me. I checked for voltage at the fuel pump but it wasn't getting any, so I figured it was b/c of the oil pressure safety switch.

I ran a temp wire to test, now the fuel pump turns on and sends fuel all the way to the injector pod, but the injectors will not spray the fuel. With the key to the on position, I get voltage on the A wires of both injectors. I was just using a test light so I don't know what voltage or ohms where.

Any suggestions before I go back over there to help him out?

Thanks,
Clint Melson

The first thing to check would be that the fuel pump turns on and primes. If you KOEO, the pump will turn on for a moment to prime and switch off. If you hear that then everything there is working properly. Next possible problem could be a bad module. If there is no crank signal or reference pulses then there will be no fuel pump or injector firings when the engine is cranking.

As stated the fuel pump will not come on unless i jump it straight off the fuse(the fuel pump is good just no voltage to it) and even with the fuel pump jumped off and running, the injectors still will not spray the fuel.

I am getting voltage to the crank signal fuse when the engine is trying to be started, but still no fuel from the injectors. The gas goes all the way to the injector pod when the fuel pump is jumped off.

what module would you be reffering to??

Thanks,
Clint Melson

if the module was bad would keep the fuel pump from coming on or the injectors from spraying??

Not when you first turn the key to the on position. It wouldnt stop it from priming. It would, however, stop the pump or the injectors from coming on while you crank the motor.
