So how do ya like purple?

Picked this up from TonyC. Not exactly the same color as the purple haze but it is definitely purple. Should be going on next week.

Looks good. Although the edelbock TBI intake may not be the best chose, it wins hands down in the ease of installation category. You may want to drill and tap the front AC bracket support now before you get it on the car. If not you risk breaking off an accessory bracket bolt off in the head.

Shifty's right. I've been there before and it's not fun.

Yep, it's purple alright. How many purple RS's are there here. I'm one, your one, who else?

Don't hate me, but I think purple only belongs on Mopars.

IMHO of course.

Shifty,

I not sure I follow you on that. The front a/c bracket?

Not the bracket but the brace. It attaches from the back of the AC compressor and bolts to the front of your intake. The Edelbrock intake has a provision for it but you need to drill and tap it out. I didn't at first when i got my intake and I eventually broke an accessory bracket bolt off in the head. It was a mess. I immediately drilled and tapped it then. It is really easy to do and you can tap it by hand with an over the counter kit at any hardware or automotive store.

Here is a pic that I dug up that shows the intake as it comes. I have since put a bolt in there to prevent any more borken bolts.

I'm not sure if you have the instructions or not, but it tells you what to do in them. But, just in case you don't have the instructions, it just says to drill a 5/16 hole 1-1/8" deep and then tap the hole with a 3/8-16 thread tap, 1" deep. Hope this helps.

Doesn't that intake get hot? What kinda paint did you use that will withstand heat?

From the looks of the can I would say engine enamel. Most of these paints can withstand about 500 degrees F. You can get it anywhere, Wal-mart, Autozone, etc, and in all sorts of different colors.

Yep, its high heat engine paint. Put on some primer and then the purple.

Shifty,

I think I already have that on the intake. tonyC must have put it there. I know the hole is there. I have to check and see if it is tapped.

Yeah, it's there, you got a better pic on the S/W region board...

This should be a fairly easy swap to do. Ya know Bill, you might as well (if you haven't already) get a 160* therm. and some new radiator hoses just to get em' outta the way...

I really like the purple on your car, but not that purple on the intake manifold. Good choice on manifold, bad choice on paint.

Dont you hate that? Buy paint of one color and it dries to another color after youve applied it.

Actually if you look close, purple haze does infact have a bit of lavender in it. It's not very pervasive but it is definitely there.

what color primer did you use? I'm pretty sure black primer or even the red primer would have yeilded a richer color.

Might want to try a hobby store. Sometimes they stock paints that are semi-transparent. Any other type of paint with a high opacity may just completly cover the lavender if its put on too thick.

I painted my block with that same paint and it doesn't look THAT purple.

Well... maybe it does.

It doesn't look that girl-ish in person.
