The proof is in the puddin'! (track times)
Well I finally got the camaro to the track. Picked up another .6 seconds in the 1/4 mile. Here are the results
Reaction time.............................742
T1 (60' time)............................2.339
T2............................................6.610
T3...........................................10.107 @ 69.282 mph
T4...........................................13.045
1/4 mile..................................15.672 @ 89.06 mph
My previous best was a 16.2.
So the gears, intake and chip work got me another .6 seconds. But I still think there is more in there.
If you plug the numbers into the horsepower estimater on the Speedworld website it says I making 224 at the crank and 190 at the rear wheels.
I was hoping for a little better but I am happy with the results. For now.

So anyway, James was out there with me and I asked him to take the car for a run down the track to see if he could do any better. Here are his results:
Reaction.........................710
T1................................2.343
T2................................6.512
T3................................9.986 @ 69.275
T4..............................12.907
1/4 mile......................15.523 @ 87.474
James was a little quicker down the track than me. Guess I need to learn to drive better.
Anyway it was a good time.

Work on your 60 ft times.
Those calculators are set up for a vehicle with optimum traction and gearing.
Get your 60 ft down to around 2.0 (preferrably less) and you may break into the 14's.

Test out the fuel pressure at the track. Do a baseline run, then increase it by 2psi, another run, etc. This is how you have to go about it until you have a real chip.

Do these track times reflect the change from stock air cleaner assembly to dual snorkle?
L03 with the Rochester TB unit still? Where did you get the dual snorkle and how much did you pay?
Encouraging and Thanks for sharing!

I am still running the stock fuel system including the stocke pressure regualtor.
When I get the adjustable regulator back on, I will take it to the track and try some adjusting.
The time are with the dual snorkel and not the stock cleaner assembly. As far as where I got it, I got in on ebay and paid $150 for it including all the duct work. Then I sent it to a plating shop and had it plated in black chrome for another $260.
They are harder to come by but the are still out there.
As far as performance goes, there is little if any difference between a dual snorkel and an open element. I ran almost identical times with both. Granted it was on different days, but the times were similar. So if you are having a hard time finding an dual snokel, your not loosing anything with an open element.

Its good to see that your making progress. I would think by the time all is said and done, you could be running mid to low 14's.

I've got an L69 dual snorkel air cleaner assembly. I got it for $50 5 years ago, it was in slightly rusty shape and had dings in it everywhere. I gutted the thermac stuff out of it, painted my air cleaner lid and got a K&N for it, never had the ducting hooked up, lol. The good old days of not knowing WHAT I was doing.
I tried fitting it up with my setup now and it won't fit no matter what I do. TBI sits too high, flatter base (front of air cleaner hits), and before that becomes a major problem the air snorkels are pointed directly into my Edelbrock 3-point STB
. I'm holding onto it for a friend that's building up a mint condition 84 cutlass (was a v6) that he's building up with a 400sbc. I hope to get him to do the ULTRA sleeper with everything gutted but there
. Black block, valve covers, intake, everything there but it runs mid to low 11's n/a, hehe.

No I did not. To fix it they need to take the dyno computer down for 2 days. They said they are way too busy to do it right now.
I'll get it eventually.

I second that. Bill's camaro is defnitly a beast. Unfortunatly, some people that own dynos don't realize that certain parts cause certain limitations. Just wait till' Febuary, that purple monster will be roaring down the road

well... it's funny because TPIss is supposed to be SO much more superior than other GM induction systems and my "4 cyl is just as fast as Bill's TPI TA.

lol, you know I'm kiddin', and you have to admit when you heard about what the guy said you thought it was funny too!
A friend of mine actually had a 5.0 thunderbird (H.O.) that, according to numbers, was quite a bit more powerful then my camaro. He came close a few times, but he never could beat me...

It was funny what the announcer said. He only said that because I didn't bother filling out the tech card and the he opened up his mouth and put his foot in when he was bragging about how his V8 Dakota would turn et's a bit slower than my 4 cyl

He may be running a 15.6 now but with the right fuel and chip work I wouldn't be suprised if a whole second came off that time. The best motor in the world will run like poo if it is not fed and tuned correctly.

Azvolfan, you have to do something with your 60 ft. Also what were the conditions of the run? You should be able to get faster than that, my taurus does that.
Maybe take a step back and analyze a few things to better the time as well. Can you guys datalog well while running?

I almost wish I could stick my head through the computer screen and hear/feel it run. I suspect that its probably the fueling or the spark that are way off.

Yeah, the 60' is not too great. That night was real cold and no one was getting much traction. That 2.4 on the last run was with a lot of wheel spin. But still, I have no suspension work and street tires. Drag radials and a little suspension work will help the 60' time. I just haven't gotten that far yet. Still working on the motor.

Theres only so much time an injector has to be open. If the ecm ends up spec. more time then whats actually available, the injectors will remain open the entire time.
