Hypertech streetrunner now my92 305 shuts down at 110mph

I am new to this site, and also to camaros, but i love both.
i have never had so much fun driveing around town. in fact its the first time in my life that any one has yelled out, nice ride man burn im up. any way i have a lo3 305, i put a dyno max exahst, on it because it was kind of hard to fit duel exhast, becaus of the clrerance between the traction bar and the drive shaft. but i did notice the power diffrance right away, and it sound cool to. so i put in a hypertech, street runner power chip.now
my question is, can i program this chip? and can i use my home pc? it wants to shut down my car at 110 mph, and i have lot's left, im only at 30000 rpm. i just want to haul some *** with what i have.
thanks unclu vern the clusterhead

cause its fun to go that fast and if your smart, you don't get caught. I have the same problem, there is a mod you can do, its in the tech articles on this site, check it out.

Your computer is shutting off fuel to the injectors. That's what is happening. It's built into the stock computer chip. It's called a speed limiter and the Hypertech chip probably also has it on there.

aftermarket chips really are not that great...the only reason i still use my jet stage 2 is becuz it took out the speed limiter...so i didnt have to rig anything to cut it out....other than that i cant tell a diff with it in there...hell it probly makes my car run a lil worse for all i know

my hypertech gave me some throttle response, changes shift points, and it has more pull all around the powerband.

Your shift points are not controlled by the computer. The only thing the computer controls with relation to your trans is the Torque converter lockup. The gains you're going to feel are just feeling, I bet it runs no faster at the track if you tried it. They set those chips up by just throwing in more fuel or timing somewhere so it might kick a little harder in some spots and feel like its faster but it realy isn't any faster.

They can be faster. Just not $130 faster than stock. Like a tenth and 1mph if you're on a cold motor. They just through in a little extra timing here and there and change things around, like you said, mostly just feeling . Poor suckers.

Really! I don't believe you after the statement about the shift points.
Oh, and JFYI, all chips are programmed.

dude throw that chip away...go outside and advance ur timing by like 4 degrees...youll feel alot more than that chip and its free...u cant change the shift points on our car with a chip...and if they did custom tune it like u said...it was just a guess.....every 305 is gonna run a little different soo u dont have like a general thing to start with to tune...if they guessed by ur mods ur car probly runs worse

ok, you guys are getting me wrong, by changing shift points, I mean the car shifts at a different MPH than before, I'm not sure if its a different rpm, but it shifts at different speeds, not real significant differences, but different.

"dude throw that chip away...go outside and advance ur timing by like 4 degrees..."

Already did this.

I'm not trying to cause a big argument, I was just doing like the rest of us and stating my oppinion.

It's not so much people are trying to offend you, it's that we are offended that companies charge $130 for a POS chip,
Jon is right, the chip will make a difference, sometimes for the better, sometimes for the worse. I have a Hypercrap "stage 2" chip in my 305 because it may be netting me an extra tenth if I am lucky. However, the only reason I have it is because I bought it 3 years ago for my 1st camaro project and did not know any better at the time

Your mph is directly related to your rpms and will only change if you change rear end gearing, tire size, or tranny gearing. Or if your tranny is slipping. Nothing in the chip will effect it or shift points however. It is either wishful thinking (don't feel bad), or maybe your kickdown cable needs adjustment.
