how do i set the timing on a 91 tbi 305
well we finaly got the camaro painted (repainted factory charcole grey) and its going to be leaving us soon but we need to time it first. to restate i dont own this car so i know nothing how it works. is there a plug or something that needs to be unpluged to make the computer stop messing with it so it can be timed? and what should the base timing on this 305 tbi be? (the engine tag is missing)
i asked my friend and he told me "unplug the brown/black wire that is hanging off to the passenger side fender well area. At idle the stock 350 is 8 degrees and the 305 is 6 degrees "
is this correct? does anybody have a pic or better discription of this wire?

305 tbi is at 0. Once timing is set, disconnect battery for a few seconds to remove engine code from computer.

Id this the orignal engine, how many miles on the engine? Have you checked your harmonic balancer to make sure the elasto...(the rubber thing on the balancer) is cracked to the point that the outer ring may have moved.
