What the heck is this?

The previous owner of my '92 RS screwed up the wiring in this car so bad I don't know what is what most of the time. Can anyone tell me from the pictures below, what this wire is to? It is grounded to the bolt in the strut tower. I have circled it with yellow to follow the wire.

The wire color looks really familiar: green with white stripe. Ill have to check a manual to see what it really is, unless someone already knows.

It looks to be grounded to the strut tower but where does the other end lead to?

Yes.

Yes, my fan runs with the ignition in the "on" position most of the time. It has been turning off randomly in traffic lately, but then I turn on the AC and it comes back on. The wire is green and white from what I can see. I cannot lift the car due to lack of jack stands at the moment so I can't see where it disaapears to. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I'm showing Dark green and white as ground going from the Coolant fan relay to Fan A/C pressure switch, A/C control Head and the Coolent fan switch.

It looks to me like the previous owner disconnected and cut the connector off for the coolant fan switch (located in in the passenger side cylinder head in between the #6 and #8 spark plugs) or AC pressure switch and just grounded it, which would explain why the fan is on at all times. The wire for it is green/white.

Benm, man I think you are probably right, and I hope that is all it is! As soon as my RS comes back from getting a hatch leak fixed I'll tend to that, but I hope you are right, that would make a lot of sense and save me time and money if that is all it is.

i did mine that way as well, but mine is grounded near the relay, not on the pass/side of the car.. seemed easier to do it that way...
