Check Engine LIGHT!!!

After i put my open element on my car after i passed smog, I keep getting a check engine light at freeway speeds, why is this? The only thing i could think of is my IAT messing with me. The runs really good, no problem at all. The other thing too is that My EGR is brand spaken new got it from the Dealer and the EGR selinoid is brand new too. This happen after i put back on my open element....

pull your codes, and see what is flagging. my car is bone stock except straight pipe off the manifolds, and it only pops up the SES during a 15min+ freeway cruise. it runs fine also. i couldn't really give you technical help.....except to use this as an excuse to swap a better engine in

Mine lights up on the freeway too. No problems here either. I checked the code and there was something wrong with an emissions sensor or something. The problem was, I removed it.

Yep, even though I'd bet it's an EGR code, pull the codes and let us know what it is.

After i put on the open element , my check engine light came on too. Its the IAT . It would only come on after running about 5 minutes. Figured it was the heat. Mine is not mounted either, but i moved the Iat to a spot that is closer to the open element and the light hasnt come on yet.

I put the IAT in the Open element and the light hasnt came on.. I think that fixed the problem. There should be a correction on the Instruction on how to put on an Open Element Thanks guys.

It should be in there already, it states to mount it away from heat sources, or if your open element has the provisions for cut-outs (like my edelbrock one) then cut one out and stick it in there. I've had my open element for 2 years now and my car has never once turned a SES light...
