12.4 sec TBI video
12.4 sec TBI video
My car is getting a little quicker each time i go back to the track. Here is a vid of my new best time/mph from Wed night.
This was my friends first time using this video camera, so be forgiving.
Right click, save as and crank up the sound
12.48 at 111.6mph vs a friends black 85 vette running 13.7sec.

I datalogged a few runs and have found a few things i think i can still improve in the tune, so i'm looking forward to going faster next time! Its also dropping about 6kPa (almost 1psi!) across the 2" TB, so I will be upgrading that soon also.

Ben
Your car sounds nice and smooth- not loud or rumbly, just smooth and fast. Nice.
It looks like it hooks like a ***** also. Awesome setup.
Also- please give your friend some flak for his camera work!

The engine is a 383 with a Cross-fire type of intake.
Awsum results once again Ben. It's hooking better now. Back to the old tyres? I forgot which one's did not hook....were they the Falkens?
What are you using to datalog the runs with.....Datamaster and the Wide-band?
As always thanks for posting the results and encouraging us all.

Which Falken's are you running Ben? I found out Friday that the Ziex ZE-502's that I am running have been discontinued and have been replaced with the Ziex ZE-512.
Are you still using the Zeitronix Data Logger?
I have been just about to order one and need to be pushed over the edge so to speak. If I had a fresh short block in the car I couldn't do without it probably.

Bummer on the 502's as the 512's don't have the same tread pattern. Anywho I'll see Monday as I have a couple to be installed. I'm out of sequence on all four tires due to damaging two due to accidents.
Rears are scary loose when it's even slightly damp.
I thought so on the WB
Oh and thanks for all the info!
Good luck with the 2.2's.

Sweat video, keep up the good work.
As for tires, I was in the same boat when my 502's wore out. I ended up getting a set of nitto 450's They hook like mad in a strait line, are super quite on the highway, all of this is at a cost though, they have very soft sidewalls, which is probably why they hook so well. I went auto-xing yesterday and ended up with 47 psi in the fronts and they would still roll over if I wasn't carefull. So keep that in mind. On top of that I got em for 75$ a piece.

I'll let you know about the 512's. I'm hoping for the best at $99 each drive out. Not the cheapest but better than the old almost slick and hard 502's. They lasted a long time for me.
I guess all this tire talk just leads back to having traction and power enough to match Bens great TBI times

That's moving!
to the TBI crowd getting faster.
6kpa is pretty big drop but it's not terrible. Also, don't look at JUST the TBI's as being the pressure drop. It could also be the air filter(s) assembly. If you can, run an extra MAP sensor ahead of the TB in the air cleaner to be certain you're measuring the pressure drop through the TB's.
To note, I've dragged down 3-5kpa of vacuum myself but every time I changed the air filter to brand new it never got more than 3 (I use paper filters).
Also, what were your 60' times and vehicle weight if you don't mind me asking?

Yeah I realise it could also be the air filter or enclosure causing the pressure drop.. I bored a set of throttle bodies today to 2.20".. The curent ones are 2.00". So I'll see how the new ones go. If its no differnet, I'll consider doing a run with the filter removed.
60's are typically 1.76x, car is an 84 vette, i think it weighs about 3400lb.
