TBI unit

Please help me. i am trying to get my 89 rs camaro tbi 305 started. She is not getting any fuel. i believe i am a victim of vats. anyways, before i learned about vats i removed the injectors from the tbi unit. while doing that the injector broke some of the gasket off of the top of the unit. where would i go to get a new one? or is there something that i can use in its place? is this even necessary to have? i would assume so because it is there in the first place. but anyways, thank you all for your time and your wealth of knowledge. i greatly appreciate all of you.

You could have a bad fuel pump, or clogged fuel filter, does your engine crank, or not?

The gasket should be available at any local parts store, or GM dealer.

I had VATS problem with my 91 Bird, it ended up being the ignition lock cylinder.

Sorry I meant to say that I replaced the fuel filter. I have not replaced the fuel pump yet. I did not want to tackle that yet. The fuel pump and spark plugs is where I started.

Why did you remove the injectors? When you put them back in did you make sure that the thin o-ring was in place at the bottom of the pod? What is your feed line fuel pressure? A dying fuel pump can give you the impression that it is not dead. What does the fuel spray pattern look like comming out of the injectors? Did you plug everything back into your TBI unit when you had it apart?

I removed the injectors to clean them up and verify that there were no broken parts. I verified that everything was put back correctly when I reinstalled them. I am not able to check the pressure of the feed line because I do not have the pressure reader. I do not have any spray from the injectors at all. I sprayed ether into the throttle body and it fired until it ran out of ether. Everything was put back together properly. I did disconnect the vats connector under the drivers dash and measured the resistance of the wires from the key via the wires. I received 0 resistance from the wires. Does it matter if the battery is disconnected when I check the resistance or not? I checked the resistance with the key in both the on and off position and still received 0 resistance. That would lead me to believe that I am a victim of vats. Thank you all again for you help. I have been reading about vats on tgo.com for a very long time. I have been trying to fix my car for about 7 months now.

What should a decent PSI be for the fuel pressure anyway?

10 to 12 PSI for a car with a stock TBI fuel pump. You can rent an Actron tester from Autozone.

i dont know if this will help you ,but i was having the same proplem with my 91 rs, where the pump kicked on but no fuel sprayed. all it was on mine is that the 4 wire connector at the distributor (which tells the computer to turn on the injectors) had rubbed through. you could check that.
