So theres a Huge diffrence with the open air element? or did it take the scoop for a real noticable diffrence?

The only difference is a sound difference, and it's not that noticable. I just did it because it cleans up the underhood appearance.
And a stock 305 TBI is not fast, but that's just my opinion.

Underdave: I like how you can admit that, alot of people wouldnt admit it.. I like people like you.. I dislike people who are like, oh mines faster than this and that and i can beat you and him... its like.. STFU dude!
but anyway man your the shi*, thanks for not telling me theres a HUGE diffrence in every way.. and then i buy one and i notice nothing.. that has happend to me before.. Thanks again, and if you were to add a fuel injector spacer do you think that would help? if you havent already?

A fuel injector spacer helps unshroud the TBI injector pod. To me it is worth it. That is based on design judgement as I have no data to prove this (dyno don did have some flow data for various TBI configurations). An open element is a pretty good mod. However, it shows its limitations in warm weather where the element is in an environment of heat soaked air. A dual or custom CAI is the way to go. However, it is hard to beat the cost of a $20 open element.

I gotcha on that.
I have saved picsfrom somewhere.. someone cut a hole in the hood and has the open air element sticking out of the hood.. front of the air cleaner is 95% exposed to outside air and the rear of the air filter is just about under the hood..
Would a lower temp thermostat help in reducing engine bay temp? as well as a oil and tranny(auto) cooler?
Somewhere i read if you remove the rear hood seal, you will let a little bit of the hot air out, but when rain comes your dist. will get a little wet, but the person who told me or where i read it said they had no problem... yet..
What do you suggest? all of the above? lol

you are reminding me of the scoops the 70's 'Cuda had/have.. all the air that is sucked into the manifold is 98% outside air...

I took that plate of my hood once, it rained over night and filled the air filter housing with water. I didnt know that it was full until i started the car.

Lol, what is the part number for your air cleaner you got? I just bought mine today!! edelbrock Prt# 1221, 14'', and i had to adjust the center bolt because it wasnt long enough, what i did was i unscrewed the center bolt all the way, and those babies are long! so i put lock tite on her and screwed it back in all the way and then unscrewed it two complete rotations, and it was just enough.. Had to use the stock riser piece to clear the dist. and then turn the sprk plug wires away from the air cleaner.. which barely fits. So i had to test it out, i started it and boy! al lyou can hear is that thing suckin air at an idle. so i reved it up to 4000rpm real quik and it was nice! I have so much more body flex now! and those are brandy new struts.. not even 5 miles on em!!
Also bought a tranny fluid cooler, The biggest one they had!
Imperial prt# 241018 and you will have to look it up to find the size! MUHAHAHAH!!!! Man, heres a Hint, That new tranny that im getting soon, will never even know what heat is!!!

Open element w/ K&N is the way to go. I did the same mod, and you can hear a difference at WOT. Also can feel more power at part throttle. When I put the stock air cleaner back on you can feel the car is slower. I put the $19.95 injector spacer too which also helps some. I always wondered how much better it would perform with some tuning.

To let air out.. and i open my floor vents, and man, all your hear is Rushing Air...

Guys keep in mind that the rubber seal at the back of the hood does more good than harm. The back of the hood is a high pressure area, which is why it's a good place to get air for your intake. This also means that without the seal you'll start introducing air under the hood and creating lift. This will also collide with the air coming through the radiator. Another smaller but annoying problem is that the steam coming off your exhaust in the rain will run right up the windshield and fog it up instantly. Also your intake for your HVAC is at the base of the windshield so you'll be sucking hot moist air instead of cooler dry air. My defroster sucks bad untill I get up to speed and get some cool air running through the HVAC intake.
