Basically i just took of the oem grill and replaced it with a 90 iroc grill but didn't install fog lamps. From there I purchased a variety of ducting pieces from Home Depot and constructed this ram air system. Thanks to the help of Kat we got it done in about 3 1/2 hours. Of course we were also in the middle of a monsoon, so that sucked. Now i'll just get a larger air lid and a newer filter to complete it.

What did you have to purchase at the home depot to make this, is that straight length at the end of the hose(the black plastic piece)is that from the home depot, or did you get that at the scrap yard. Whats the part # of pieces you had to purchase.

This is probably the best looking ram air build up I've seen yet!

How much of a difference did you notice after installing it? Do you trip any trouble codes?

Email me and I'll send you a few pics. Basically the black piece is from another cars air filter. My friend went to an open air element and i took his old hose from his air filer and then just cut it to fit. The metal piece connecting the hose and the tpi snorkel is from home depot and so are the inner pieces the come up from the grill.

And so far no trouble at all, i'm doing the test run this weekend out to Pittsburgh, (where i am now) and so far it seems like my gas mileage has increased. So far over three hundred miles and i'm down to a 1/4 tank.

I wasn't sure weather or not it would be considered cold air induction or ram air. Because in theory at higher speeds the air would be forced in from the grill through the ducting causing a ram air affect.

And I'm glad you like it.

Hey I got the same set up in my 89 Rs 305I just got a few questions for ya ( pick your mind) How did you attack the black pipe to the stock air cleaner housing? After I put mine on I felt the increase in power especially on the highway. I am debating wheather or not to thrown in a K&N air filter. One guy said yes....one guy said no. Is too much air bad for the engine. OH yeah Try that with the Fog lights. It still works great and it looks a hell of alot better.

Basically i made an outline on the airfilter of the general shape of the black hose. I used masking tape and drew on top of that. The i broke out the ole dremel and put on a cutting disc. I chopped out a section leaving a lip and the top and making sure that I had a good tight fit. Then i just squeezed the hose into place. The only other thing i had to do was cut off some of the top of the black hose that was protruding into the air cleaner, othwise the lid wouldn't close. And i think i may get fog lights yet, but thin line ones, not the stock type. And yeah i noticed a big difference on highway driving.

MY wounder is doeing this give enough "cold" air to perform just as well as a open element would? If that makes any sence?

it does. (make sense)
and i thought ram air had to have somekind of scoop to the outside, like the
"Ram-Air Firebirds" BIG NOSTRILS.
This is cold air induction guys, not ram air.

however, its original and looks good,
BUT,
Whats the verdicict on flowing less cold air to more hot? I think that ones out, so till the gov. steps in and declares it either way. GO WITH WHAT YOU LIKE.
