TB butterflys sticking on inside of throttle bore
TB butterflys sticking on inside of throttle bore
I've had a sticky throttle for about 6 months to a year now and I finally noticed when I had my TB off that the passenger side butterfly is hitting the TB bore when fully closed. Can this be shaved off slightly or is there an adjustment to correct this? It's getting worse and worse.

Hmmm... It's getting worse? Are you sure it's the blade and not the linkage? That's weird. Are the screws that hold it to the shaft still in it? I can't imagine why it'd be getting worse unless you're getting a varnish buildup or something. No idea, really. You could probably use a light grit paper and sand down the bore or the edge of the blade where it's sticking as long as you don't take a lot off.

I had the same problem with my Holley 670. The throttle blades would rub on the TB before they were fully closed.
I don't remember exactly how I fixed it, but I remember filing was involved. I can see bare metal around the edges where the red paint used to be. Just be careful not to take off too much material. You can't put it back!
Yet another reason to buy Holley parts, right?

I got the "Truckin'" magazine where they rebuilt a TBI. I'll scan it in when I get home.

Turbo city said id have to shave the throttle linkage off then re weld it when putting it back together.

Actually you can take it out without messing anything up. Unscrew the screw on the passenger side part of the shaft that holds the TPS tab and return spring, take out the passenger side spring. Unscrew the throttle blades from the shaft and just slide it out from the drivers side.
