Talk about an overkill. Digital-7?
Do u have a manual or automatic? If u have a automatic don't bother getting the MSD6AL because all the 6AL is really is a MSD6A with a rev limiter. And u won't over rev since u have an auto. No sense in buying a MSD6AL then. And another thing. Our cars shift at 5000rpms. The stock dist. creates enough voltage for our engines up to 5000rpms. You don't need something like the MSD box to help your dist. because it doesn't need help. Wires, coil, plugs help because it helps create better voltage to the combustion chamber. Not the dist. So in my opinion. Don't waste ur money.
What I did was I bought an MSD Cap/Rotor,MSD 8.5mm wires,Blaster Coil, and Rapidfire plugs. This was an awesome upgrade and from what I hear from people that have basically stock 305's with MSD Boxes, that they didn't feel anything.

I had an MSD-6A on my '85 Z28 305TPI. It kicked serious *** ! There was a definite performance gain. I'm gonna get one for my RS real soon! Oh yeah, I also had an Accel HEI Super Coil and Accel 8.8mm wires.

Your not suppose to get performance gain from the boxes. It just creates better spark. So don't expect to get a performance gain too like our friend above me. Everyone feels something different.

The point of the MSD box is to create better voltage at high rpm's. Our cars shift at 5000rpm's. 5000 is not high therefor it really doesn't do anything. But for a 6-8000 shifting car, it would help it.

i understand that eric so if its not a mod that is really a factor to ur car than y would someone get it? it seems like everyone and thier brother has one of those MSD 6al set ups, but yet for some odd reason its not helpful to our cars becouse it doesnt reach the RPM point. thats what im tlaking about when i say modding things isnt always the smart thing to do.
I have the 6a system with 8.5 wires and accel coil. When i first put my system in the only main thing i noticed was a better fuel milage. after i opened my spark gap up to .050 i noticed alot more in the performance area and throttle response. For the 2.5 mpg I gained I think the box is worth it
