Ok, This Pertains To Everyone With a 305

Ok guys, this is my first time postin in TBI.
i have a 91 pont 305
with a recent tune up, (oil, tran, fuel, cap)
and free flowin, (no xaust, replacing with full catback)

but i have to fig out this whole TBI ordeal, because i would run into a prob that i cant recognize. i would be goin sometimes, then surge of power then i get a CE light. so i replaced fuel P relay. which didnt really differ. today she stalled while i was pullin out, and the low end power is completly gone, i would do ok till 2500rpm then she do pretty good.
but what can i do to help that?

now, for this TBI, can i go anywhere with it? i want it as a daily driver. but i want it to kick up spontaneously.
what about replacing fuel pump and regulator, would that help?

exaust is next. then prob headers.

oi.
help me with whatever you can teach me guys.

THANX!

Did you write that you currently have no
exhaust system on your car??? If that is the case, you might have lost too much back pressure and that is what is causing your powerband to move too far up the rpm range, hence loseing low end power below 2500rpms. It is just a thought, you could have other problems, this was just the fist that came to my mind.
Good luck

if you ahve noe xhaust you will lose all your low end power, why would you take of the exhaust anyway? If the exhaust is off don't drive it till you get your new exhaust. it will screw up alot of stuff

I'd have to disagree with the above post. The exhaust on my car fell off at the cat (good old Canadian winters), and I left it like that for 1.5 years. Except for a crappy idle, I didn't see any bad side effects. I didn't lose so much low end power that my car stalled. I'd have to say that the low end stayed about the same. Thank god canadian cops don't give a **** about how loud your car is.

It wont screw up anything! this has been discussed in other forums.....backpressure being needed is a myth too. What you need is velocity in the exhaust sytem, all this is in the archieves. With that said I would reccomend you get an exhaust ASAP

Yeah, actually, come to think of it, my memory isn't anywhere as good as it used to be. I think the carbon monoxide didn't help.

Umm, what were we talking about?

I'm currently driving with out my exhaust on because i had to change the fuel pump and now i'm waiting for my headers to get here before i put it back on. I didn't notice any low end loss, but definitely noticed high end loss - maybe that has something to do with the volocity? or it could be that i changed to a different manifold as well.

its probably just the noise throwing you off... its sooooo loud that it seems like the car should be moving faster for the amount of noise its making

I bought a CATCO 3-way cat with my flowmaster 3". It's not the best, high-buck cat on the market (random technologies probably makes the best), but it was CHEAP from summit. Like under $50, for a 3". No problems so far, stock AIR lines hooked up too.

I'm sorting this out with a moderator, sorry if I caused a stir.
Try to be a little more patient before throwing the book at me, Taz.
Thanks.

I had this sort of "surging" at idle, and this week, I took it into the shop. I had guessed what it was before going in and I was right! Throttle Position Sensor.
