When you gonna do it, tas? I bet the duration specs of the cam they are using are similar to the ZZ3/4 roller cam, huh? ie, 208 intake duration? You could probably get by with a ZZ4 take-off OR you could use the Hot Cam I bet, too, which is EFI compatable for sure with a little more duration than the ZZ4 and you'd only be able to use 1.5 rockers? NEVER built a 305 so i don;t know how much lift before cyl wall smacks... Hot is .492" with 1.5's, .525" with 1.6's... Big lift, man. Match that with good heads, you are on your way!!!
heh, i know uve prolly heard this before and know this statistics, but just get an iroc, insurance isnt that much different and "outta the box" i get 300 lbs/ft of torque.

welcome. I don't think I'm gonnd do it, I got 156k miles now. I just want to make it look good before the engine dies so when it does I'll have a whole new car. I finished the exaust(bought it at least), I'll probably do rims or leather seats next. Trending Topics

I'll be doing a 300 hp buildup on my 130,000 mile 305 this summer. Torquer Heads, Cam w/lifters and rockers and maybe hardened pushrods, keeping the stock bottom end, rpm manifold, 670 cfm TBI, and ofcourse a custom chip. I plan on spending around $1,800-$2,000. Most of this stuff will transfer to a 350 anyway.

Interesting articles! I like how they eliminated the wheel hop by replacing only the LCA bushings and not the entire LCA. Hmmmm? I see cost savings here!!

Lakewood LCAs are only $80 from jegs. www.jegs.com and SLP sells boxed stock ones. www.slponline.com
sort of a waste of time to get fancy control arms when the bushings connecting them to the car are made of rubber. They are gonna squish and bend alot faster than the metal of the control arm is. I wouldnt waste my money on any aftermarket control arms unless i needed adjustable ones. Otherwise i think stock ones with solid bushings would be good for most cars and maybe welding a plate on the bottom if you wanna go crazy

Hey Pab, all the bushings I've ever seen in aftermarket control arms are polyurethane...they are in my Lakewoods anyway. You could probably get away with stockers with the poly bushings, but with the Lakewoods at only $80, why bother?

the solid aluminum bushings are in jegs/summit
and ONLY 80 dollars? ONLY? thats it? For basically a chunk of metal that barely does squat more over stockers with a little tweaking? You guys must have money coming out of your ***

and how long does it take to look to see if yours is bent? I might also add this peice of advice DROP THE FRIGGIN MAGAZINES AND PICK UP THE WRENCHES, VICARIOUS EXISTANCE IS A WASTE OF TIME

I speant all yesterday putting a 3" body lift on my friends T-100 Toyota and 3 weeks ago the same thing on a friends Explorer. Just because I don't talk about all the non F-body mods I do I'm tired of people thinking I sit on my *** for months at a time reading magazines. Pablo, you're not the only person I've heard this from and I'm getting tired of it.
Well the only person you can blame for that is yourself because all i see is you quoting magazine articles and using them like other people use experience. Go out and put those friggin headers on your car allready and while you are at it pick up a junkyard 3.42 rear etc and on and on
I quote those because I've been collecting them since I was 10. Think I was even driving in 1994 when that mag came out talking about puttling LT1 heads on Gen 1 block?? As for the headers my sister had to take the Formula yesterday(and from now on 'till Nov.) since some choonty *** vatos decided to side swipe her parked Nissan and my dads '68 Jeep. Not like its any of your business. So since we didn't have the bird to tool on we did the body lift, tranny cooler, and fixed his ARB dual air lockers.

as for magazines, i wipe my *** with most of the articles I see. If you were wrenching instead of reading how to swap on the latest aftermarket part that just so happened to donate whatever part they sell so hotrod could do an article on how to install it and hence sell more of them you would realize how innacurate, biased, and generally vapid these articles are when it comes to actual information. You wanna talk abut F notes, I could write F notes the friggin BOOK and no one was here to teach me no one was here to be my guiding hand.
Thats the problem with this friggin message board, there is a very small percentage of doers and a very high percentage of dreamers. I guess the only positive is that any thirdgen that can get out of its own way becomes a "sleeper"

I volunteered the info because the guys like you make incorrect judgements based on the info you do see even though its a tiny part of what's really going on. I had to hear crap from Kevin L. and his dad about asking questions about parts and then not buying then. Did they ever think that there was something else that I might be comaparing the above to before I decided what I was going to do? No. All they saw is that I didn't by their stupid 305 TPI heads which they didn't know the miles on anyway. Does that mean I did didn't spend that money??
Thats a cute story and all but I dont care, sorry has nothing to do with the subject at hand. Focus and make up your mind! either you want someone to know your life story, or you dont tell it. Its always been very simple for myself. As far as incorrect judgments.. again.. lets get back to this dimension here. This thread is full of regurgitated magazine drivel.. and alot of your posts are! thats a fact, not a judgment call. Another fact is that you learn more and get more experience by doing rather than by just reading. This is not to say you shouldnt research your options but it comes to a point where its not research but it is vicarious existance.
but enough of this talk. THis doesnt have to do with TBI only the problems with the TBI board

LoL focus on what? A dropout looser who has nothing better to do than flame newbies all day who just want some help? Maybe the Armed Forces can straighten you out like my friends fkup brother and his friend. Its a shame that it has to come to that though.
