Marine Application TBI
I know I have given out info on this board before about the 240, 280 and 315/320 HP 350 TBI engines that were built by Mercury Marine.
One was built with 193 heads and put out 240 HP/330 ft/lbs
A third was built using Aluminum heads and made 280 HP/365 TQ
A second was built with Vortecs and put out 315 HP/365 TQ.
Here are pictures of the Marine Spec TBI unit that I found on the net
Specifications
BBC TBI unit with 2" bores
Factory Injector pod spacer
GM Vacuum Assist Fuel Pressure regulator
75 lb/hr injectors
20 PSI @ WOT and no vacuum
The VAFPR is actually not a vacuum referenced regulator at all, rather just a sealed regulator that has a vent tube back to the TBI bore. It is a marine fuel system thing that prevents the bilge from filling up with fuel should the diaghram in the regulator burst open.
Both RBob's EBL and Dimented's MAF setup have provisions to account for the VAFPR.

1) Any info regarding their ECM/tuning setup ?
2) The VAFPR, could it help in a supercharged TBI setup ?
3) Stock valve size on both heads, no porting ?
Would love to see one of those in one of the little "whalers" we use at the base, rather than the tiny Mercury/Honda 115 hp engines. I'm a speed freak when I'm out on the water

I have a similar TB on my 350 w/vortec heads. Big difference from the stcker with the ultimate mods and 26 psi FP. I am using the EBl so it made idle a dream with the VAFPR and the big cam. As far as supercharging, why couldn't you get a 2 bar map, and tap the reference from under the blower, if using a roots/screw blower, with the ebl. The set the table for the increase in PW and all from the tables. Get rid of the factory FPR and get an aftermarket boost referenced external. Your fueling will still be limited.

Won the Bid for the NOS Rochestor GM Marine TBI unit with sensors, injectors, VAFPR, etc for $96.75!

Adapted the Marine TBI to a SBC type setup this evening. Found out something interesting, just by looking through my garage left-over/junk pile. Sitting in the back of the garage for the past 2 years or so was my Edelbrock 1406. Sitting on the edelbrock carb was an Edelbrock GM Cruise Control adapter kit (meant for a 1982-1986 Chevy Q-Jet application). Long story short the cruise control bracket meant for the 1406, bolts right up to the TBI unit. Giving me a TV cable provision for the 700r4. Took me all of 15 minutes once I got the idea. No welding, no grinding, no cutting, just bolt it on.

That saved you a few hours! I wish I'd would have thought of that, but as you know I just made the SBC throttle arm fit the BBC TBI. keep us posted on how it runs for you.

So this TBI unit would just bolt up to where a stock TBI unit was w/out issues?
Also, other then the heads, what other differences are there between a truck 350TBI and the Marine 350? I wouldn't mind replicating this motor for my '89 RS, especially if it was reasonaly priced.
Another thing, using the Marine TBI wouldn't mess with smog issues would it?
