Injector overspray

When I take the aircleaner off after driving, the gasket between the throttle body base and fuel meter assembly is saturated with gas. The other gaskets are dry as dust. Either the fuel meter assembly has a very small crack that I can't see or the injectors are spraying too wide. Has anyone had this happen to them?

Mine is the same way. It's not a problem with the unit, just by design.

That gasket really does'nt look like it seals anything. Just seems to be a 'pad' for the meter assembly. Do you think there's any danger of fire associated with this? I know gas goes through that area all the time, but just sitting there? Thanks.

Nah, you should be fine. Mine has always been like that, and it has only started on fire twice. Just kidding!

no fire problems, its because the injectors vaporize the fuel pretty well on their own without airflow. so when you are at idle, im sure that the air inside the aicleaner is somewhat "humid" with gas. at least enough to get some stuff wet like that gasket. its does only seal from outside air, not a pressure seal or anything. there is also always going to be an amnt of fuel that splatters off the blades back up. but it gets taken care of in the end. drips or atomizizes again from heat of tb, and goes right into your engine.

no need to worry

Thanks a bunch. I hope your not pissed about the air conditioner thing. I didn't intend for any of it to be personal.
